We could have had Childs and 48 penalties. That would have made it a better game.

Not sure but does this go back to years ago when the saints player (John Harrison i think) headed the ball forward and they scored a try from it?

Apparently:
Silverwood gave us everything.
We should be terrified because we only beat them by four.
Hoffmann deliberately attacked Wheeler late.
We only won because of their injury crisis.
They got more out of the game than we did.

The frustrating thing for me is that I have seen what all three of your ex Stormers are capable of. And although the Hoff has slotted into the team framework both Jeff & Finchy are struggling ?
Jeff I think is a victim of the tackle system he knows so well & is being pinged by the RFL gestapo,(makes him gun shy)

Not into the team framework AT ALL & given how quickly he slotted into a very demanding team framework under bellyache I find it really frustrating :conf:
I won't buy into the "I can't be bothered & want to go home" scenario,as I never saw that in the happy guy I saw at Melbourne.

That was a deliberate heading that Harrison did yesterday was accidental and not intentional.But the rule says that if the ball comes offf the head deemed as a knock on

Thought Wigan were off side a few times but Saints were off side all the time.

Not very good from the officials & the touch judges. Don't really know why we need to have touch judges they did nothing throughout the game. Even missed the blatant forward pass for our first try :exc:

Whilst letting the game flow gives us a good open game, what is the point of having a 10 metre gap between play of the ball and let nearly every player stand a good yard in front of you? Obviously I was only watching from a Wigan perspective, so if he was letting both sides off, then fair enough. Did have a chuckle to myself at the end of the game thinking about how much time Stains ran off the clock, not giving them enough time for one last chance to get the ball back from the kick off.

What i noticed with Silverwood, he went back about 12 metres at the ptb, so if players were then a yard ahead of him, he let play go because they were effectively on-side. Going back a 'big 10' is helpful in important games as it lets the players play, gives continuity , and allows them all extra responsibility in terms of discipline,they know how far they can push it & what they can get away with.

And importantly, the game flows and becomes a better spectacle - and it was a great advert. Even saints fans would agree there???

The worrying thing from my point of view was the touch judges. From where I was sitting in the SS Foster's "missed" conversion looked a definite goal while one of Pat's conversions looked to go wide and was given. Not that I'm going to complain.
