How many times have we read threads like this? Renouf, Richards, and many more. Unless he (finch) doesnt want to be here, I think it's just taking him to
E to settle in and gel with the team and plays.
I don't for one minute think that Madge would have signed him if he wasn't a class act. Hoffman's always singing his praises, saying he'll be excellent for us. I know it's really frustrating and very annoying, but I'm prepared to give him more time.

Read my post properly and you might just understand it's content.Re Finch.In my post I stated that I had often defende him on a number of occasion and was fast running out of excuses for him.I also stated that perhaps a few games in the reserves and if not improved a ticket home.I was not suggesting we send him home immediately.Of course posters are going to make observations regarding certain players contribution to the game or lack of.And I for one am and will be entitled to my view that he is not playing to the standard currently required to be wearing the famous colours of Wigan.I have watched the game for fifty four years now.Having seen the best and the worst of players.And on each occasion I have made a comment and will continue to do so as I respect other posters views as regards to players.If this is the standard of play you expect of a Wigan player then fine but I for one cannot continue to defend a player who appears to not want to be here.The Hoff may feel he's a damned good player and I respect his defence of one of his mates but that does not mean he will gel with the current squad of players.Reading Rads book he often makes reference to players not making the grade and being good mates with them.You would not expect any less from the Hoff.What if he did come out with a statement on the lines that he thought Finch was crap.Do you think that would inspire Finch with confidence? I think not.And I still feel he needs time in the reserves.

On this site the title of this blog is self explanatory, but the perspective from Saints is the mirror image.
So the only thing it shows is that the true fan is myopic with regard to their own team. This is also demonstrated by the many and varied bits of paranoia shown on this site so often and too often IMO.

Actually this was one of the very best games I have had the privilege to attend. One of the reasons was that Silverwood allowed it to flow by not being nit-picking over the various minor infringements that could on another day be deemed worthy of a penalty. That's also a credit to the players of both sides who played a really tough game in a commendable spirit of honesty. If you ever need and advert for this great game of ours then this match was it.

On the way home listening to the phone-in on Radio Manchester the sole Saints fan was magnanimous in defeat and showed a courtesy that I dream might one day be shown by more writers to this site.

After watching the game again Silverwood could have penalised both teams for minor infringements all through the game fair play to him for allowing what is the probably the best game of SL this season to flow .Ganson would have broke the record for penalties I know its frustrating watching the game when you think the opposition is lying offside ,lying on etc but what do we want whistle happy refs or one what lets the game flow for me the latter.The forward pass allegedly for Josh Charnleys first try the touch judge was in line with play.Looking again at the video Saints last try was a bit dubious .Check the tackle at 30 mins Sean Mcguinness should be worried if he is to face the judiciary this week if Lima was citied for his tackles then this is a cert he ran in 5 yards to tackle the Wigan player.Hoffman was committed and theres no way he coulds have pulled out of the tackle.

On the Red Vee site many are also commenting on how they thought the Wigan fans behaved during this match which was possitive remarks in the main.
We are apparently not in the same league as the Rhino's and Wire thug supporters.
I too thought Silverwood had a top game, OK the odd blip, but nothing OTT.

To be fair to Silverwood, if you look at the time of my initial post on this subject, I had just opened my several'th bottle of cider, and may not have been thinking with a completely clear head.

live at the game i thought it was very frustarating with off sdie but he could have called lockersd hansen up alot in that game think it was a free flowing game and watchiong it back on sky maybe had a better game than i thought the deacon decision fair enough it hit his face and it is a knock on but if he hasnt playd it the ball played the man it should be play on like a charge down or when a player makes a tackle and touches the ball its ruled play on

If you had only had 15 bottles and not 16 your judgement would of been fully clear Exile. Its always the last 1 bottle to blame.
We fully understand.

I thought the referee did very well. Hardly noticed him. Yes he made the odd mistake but we got a try from a forward pass so it is swings and roundabouts.

I too was frustrated at the game with the offsides, but bow to the fact that the game flowed without numerous stop starts/ penalties etc.

Apologies to Mr Silverwood who did have a good game when I watched it again.
