Re: Silverwood did his best for Saints
I like Silverwood, its usually a good spectacle when he is in charge. My only bugbear was the contested scrum. I got the impression it took him by as much surprise as it did the Stains pack. Seemed his reaction was knee-jerk. And wrong!
Re: Silverwood did his best for Saints
due to my son being in hospital i couldnt get to the game but watching on sky i thought silverwood had a great game, he let the minor infingements go for both sides and there was no constant whistle blowing like some refs which made the match a very absorbing encounter and a great spectacle and advert for rugby league- excellent!!
the touch judge should have called the forward pass anyway

Re: Silverwood did his best for Saints
I say it week in week out Matt, the touch judges in our game are, mostly, useless and ineffective. Reasons unknown, but they seem very unwilling to raise a flag for anything other than conversions and balls in touch.
Re: Silverwood did his best for Saints
Fans need to remember TJs do not have to raise their flags anymore. They are in constant radio communication with the referee. Having watched games with the match off audio on you would be shocked how much they do communicate.

Quite possibly CP but they have flags for a reason, largely to indicate to the crowd that they have spotted something. If they see a forward pass then the flag should go up regardless of what is being said over the CB!cpwigan wrote:Fans need to remember TJs do not have to raise their flags anymore. The problem with that KW is the TJ offer more assistance now than they ever did with flags only but the referee depending on the particular referee chooses what to acknowledge or ignore. For example, Steve Ganson will often ignore TJ advice.

Henceforth why the receivers should be on sale at every game... The refs have hand signals for a reason, so the players, club staff and the fans can see what's going on on the field.cpwigan wrote:Fans need to remember TJs do not have to raise their flags anymore. Excellent point. It would be good if SKY had a match official audio version too.onedego wrote:Henceforth why the receivers should be on sale at every game... I do think the less penalties, the better RL is but obviously that depends on the match etc. THe Child version of RL is farcical IMO. A dozen or less penalties per match has to be better.

I agree with onedego. The mass availability of thingies would be a fantastic step forward and yet another example of how RL can teach wendyball how to manage their sport!
