Farrell as a centre????

Post by A49 »

Seeing the way that Joel is growing into the centre position prompts me to wonder if Liam might also have the potential to share in a devastating centre partnership for many seasons to come.

If he has he the basic speed I think he certainly has the Rugby brain to make it worth considering.

Why have we got an obsession with making class backrow forwards into centres?

The answer could be:there are no class centres in the British game; we don't have the quality in the club now that Gleeson has left; it is becoming more difficult to attract Antipodean players given the strength of the Pound to the Aussie Dollar; JT and Faz should have been developed as centres.

My hope is that we will recruit a class Aus/Kiwi centre for next season, keep George for another season as well as continuing to mould Joel into an excellent threequarter - if we get it right we will gain an advantage over every other SL club. Faz for me should stay in the pack where he is a massive asset.

I think Lima would make a great centre

The biggest Room is the Room for improvement.

The best form of defence is attack!!

Faz is class where he is.

He has a fairly unique running style I always think, his feet barely seem to leave the ground! Then he seems to have built up acceleration and a head of steam from nowhere....

I think Joel's handling in the centres has improved every game and his style is much better suited than Faz.

Joel seems to be obsessed with backhanded passes though...

All this 'He's a back row forward not a centre' is a little confusing. I seem to remember that back rowers and centres used to inter change quite regularly. Having said that I can only name BJ Mather who I specifically remember doing so. Did I dream it or what?
