Salford City Reds appoint Matt Parish as head coach

Salford City Reds have appointed Australian Matthew Parish as head coach to succeed Shaun McRae.

Parish, 42, will join the Reds after his current commitments with the New South Wales State of Origin squad are completed in mid-July.

Parish told the Salford club website he was privileged to have the task of leading the club into the new stadium.

He said: "I am also determined that the final games at The Willows will be remembered for the right reasons."

As a player Parish made 64 first team appearances for Balmain between 1988 and 1993.

He was formerly assistant coach at the North Queensland Cowboys.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

It's quite interesting CP back in the late 90's Parish coached The Entrance up on the Central Coast, head to head against my brother Allan he was 1 from 6 over a three year period.

He was only a rookie back then so obviously he has come on tremendously well, hope he does well for them.
