I try not to be anti referee because they are, to any player or former player, a neccessary evil at best.
However, having watched Mr Ganson last night I am still not decided whether he is incompetent or (to my jaundiced view) just anti Wigan because he comes from St Helens.
I have just watched Batley v Leigh. Who is the young, I think, red headed Ref?
For me he was a breath of fresh air among all the current poor refs around in Superleague.
His only clear error was to penalise and then place on report Mills of Leigh for an alleged use of the forearm
He had the guts to make many (correct)decisions without erecourse to a video report.
Please tell me his name so that I can follow his progress.
Referees this week
Re: Referees this week
Bayroller, it was George Stokes the ref in that match.
A promising lad from around this area, already TJ'g in S/L.

Thanks for that Nezza Faz. Can we persuade him to move so that he can ref Wigan games?
I was impressed with his performance

Re: Referees this week
He does the academy regularly

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Doesn't need to shift home - these days they can ref their Home town teams, a la Steve Ganson/Stains & Bentham/W'ton.
According to Cummings, they are judged now on ability & not where they come from ?
