Is there still a lot of improvement in Wigan?

Post by BriH »

I could not think of an appropiate title!

What I am asking is this. Are we someday going to see Wigan play 100% for 80 minutes and somebody cops a hammering?
I would like to think we could quite easily put 80 points on somebody if we play to our full potential - "The Perfect Storm" so-to-speak.
Maybe Wakefield this weekend?

Hopefully Warrington in CC :)
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I understand where your coming from Bri and I believe a real hammering for some one is on the way very soon (yes would love it to be wire) but, I would take a 2 point win every game as long as we won.

Being realistic Wigan have not been playing very well apart from the last 4 games but we are top of the league. IMHO i think we peaked too early for the world club challenge and ever since then we have looked average winning ugly etc.
YES there is room for a lot of improvement and hope this comes against Wires in the CC.

Of course there is. Essentially we have won game playing our A game for 15 minutes, sometime 40 minutes say v Saints. We will need our A game and maybe for the full 80 v Wire.

I would say we're nowhere near hitting out full straps at present. Our pack is compromised with Fielden absent and Coley having knees approaching the creakage of Jerry Seuseu. We have enough depth in the 2nd row to have some general cover, but it is limting out attack somewhat.

But the sign of a champion team is that you can play badly and still win. In our recent games against Cas and Leeds we were patchy. Against Huddersfield we were great, but before that rubbish against Cas. And against Saints we played our best rugby of th year and were sublime.

Looking average and being top of the league ain't bad. Does this mean that the rest of Superleague are below average??

In answer to the original question - there is always room for improvement but IMO I don't think we are far off. To play 100% of the time in 100% of matches is nigh on impossible and to expect it is just a pipe dream.
