With All the trouble in London at the moment should the rl be thinking of an alternative venue if the situation doesn't improve with the mindless rioters ???? Of course rl matches do not need huge police presence it should still be considered ????
Any views ???
There is a contingency plan on the RFL site. Basically if the Wembley final does not take place, a full refund for tickets will be offered or the tickets will be honoured at the revised date/venue. http://www.therfl.co.uk/news/article/23 ... llenge-cup
Although the Metropolitan Police have taken the decision to postpone tomorrow’s scheduled football friendly between England and Holland at Wembley for public safety reasons, the RFL does not anticipate a similar outcome when Leeds Rhinos play Wigan Warriors on Saturday August 27.
“We are monitoring events in London closely and are continuing to liaise with Wembley officials,” said the RFL’s Director of Marketing and Communications Andy Hewitt.
“At the moment there is nothing to suggest that the 2011 Carnegie Challenge Cup final is in any doubt and we are sure that situation will continue.
“Demand for tickets since last weekend’s semi-finals has been phenomenal and the RFL Ticket Office has been experiencing brisk business all week. I’m sure that will continue in the build up to one of the country’s most famous and eagerly anticipated sporting occasions.”
In the unlikely event that the 2011 Carnegie Challenge Cup final does not go ahead due to the civil unrest, all fans who have purchased tickets will be offered the choice of a full refund or tickets for the rescheduled final.

The unrest was always going to be a 48 hour style phenomenon once the police came out in numbers. The grandstanding by the politicians will go on for weeks. The use of water cannons is a classic example. IIRC, we have 6 in NI and I am not sure we have many, if any elsewhere.
People need to stop going OTT, the CC will be unaffected.
