I know he's not a footballer but isn't Sir Ian McKellen supposed to be a Wigan fan? I know he grew up in Wigan.

Ferdinand and Rooney were at the Grand Final last year and were celebrating with the lads weren't they?

Steve Redgrave is a RL fan, think it might be Wigan but not sure.
Gareth Thomas before his first game: "You wanna spend 10 mins getting smashed up by these guys..Big dudes here.."

On a slightly different thread on fans . . .

Wikepeia reckons Kym Marsh is a Wigan fan and although she might not be able to give as good as post muatch tune as Gary Barlow did last year for Wire, at least she'll look the part.

LEAGUE'S JUST SUPER

They might be preparing for the opening round of the English Premier League but Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand and Newcastle's Joey Barton were glued to their television sets last weekend watching the Challenge Cup semi-final between Wigan and St Helens. ''John Charnley is one jet heeled kid…go Wigan!!!! Sam Tomkins is my favourite player - elusive #rugbyleague,'' tweeted Ferdinand. Barton, who is on the outer at Newcastle after attacking club management on Twitter, tweeted at the kick-off: ''Wigan V Saints, proper game…game on''. And then at full-time: ''this is why Super league is best sport on tele''.
