Amos Roberts
Amos Roberts
Told he has no future at Wigan so unless the club pay him off/offload him we have an unwanted player with 12 months left on his contract.
Re: Amos Roberts
What an enigma he's been. The odd game when he's been stupendous followed by nightmarish displays. It going to be a tough call for any other club to take him on. If Madge wasn't able to get him playing consistently, can't see any other coach in SL doing any better. Reckon we could be stuck with him on the salary cap for the next 12 months.

Re: Amos Roberts
you have to question the logic of this?, even if you know he has no future why would you tell a player with 12 months on his contract that?.
wouldnt you want him to try and get back in the first team on the hope he could re-discover some form?

Exactly WF. I believe his wife and children will return Down Under soon and Amos will sit it out unless Wigan pay him off or get him a similar deal elsewhere.Wigan_forever1985 wrote:you have to question the logic of this?, even if you know he has no future why would you tell a player with 12 months on his contract that?.

Re: Amos Roberts
Wigan_Forever, my thought exactly, plus I dont think that the club would go about things in that way. Surely a player would go out on loan first ie Karl P
Re: Amos Roberts
Problem with putting him out on loan is that his contract payments may be too high for other clubs to take on under their salary cap.
He didn't make the under 20s squad this lunchtime!

Which also contradicts everything the club has been critised for over the last season information-wise (Gleeson, Madge, new coach etc). Why does the club inform someone like this when we are constantly told eg: Higham that players are not informed first?Wigan_forever1985 wrote:you have to question the logic of this?, even if you know he has no future why would you tell a player with 12 months on his contract that?.

So who has told him this? The incoming coach (we do not know who this is), the outgoing coach (what business is it of his), IL, who can see an investment going down the pan, or someone else?
May be it is just a wake up call to get the guy thinking?
May be a psychologist or shrink could help.
So sorry for the guy, as he was just so good for the first 12 months or so.

I feel very sorry for the lad because nobody deserves an injury like that, well maybe Ryan Bailey.
