The farce that is Sky Super League

Post by Kittwazzer »

OK. No complaints about tonight's result. Better team won.

But the best team in Super League went out last night. They should be wearing the crown for their achievements this year. As it is, the teams that finished first and second find their seasons over.

More worryingly, the team that finished 5th after being largely shite all season could win next week and all next year make us put up with 'That's why we're Champions!'

And this is so very very wrong!

I have to agree with this thread. We are now faced with a team that came 3rd by 7 points or 5th by 13 points being crowned Superleague Champions. Yet the 2 teams that came in the top 2 by a considerable margin have nowt to show, as all that will be remembered is who wins next week.
Much prefer the top 2 playing each other with winner straight through, as at least it guarantees one of the top 2 making the final.

I have to agree. The whole season shouldn't be decided on three games, which it is is.

Totally missing the point.

Nobody whinged last year because we finished top of the League AND won the GF. When we sang 'Championes' we sang it with total conviction.

Next year, a team who have had a mediocre season at best could be singing 'That's why We're Champions' from 5th place having hit form for the last 4 games out of 31

Its laughable!

Suddenly I've stopped laughing at Warrington's defeat last night. I dislike them as much as the next man but at least there would be merit in calling them champions.

Nail and head!

Taking it to a ridiculous extreme, its the equivalent of Man United winning the Championship, FA Cup and Champions League and West Brom being declared Champions for winning the Sky Carling Cup!

In fairness, i haven't stopped laughing at Warrington's defeat last night. I was under no illusions at the start of the season that we would walk the season and come out champions again, neither were the club. I seem to remember an interview with Maguire at the start of the year where he said that he expected the competition to be tougher this year. On the other hand, Warrington's official marketing has been based losely on "look at the size of my willy", with their "We got the prize, they got the pies" and "Garaunteed Grand Final Winners" on their official website, very assuming, and the comedy is seeing the ladder being dragged from under them, let alone being knocked down a couple of pegs.

Old Trafford will be damn near empty next week. That, for me, is a good thing, because only by hurting to pocket of The RFL, will we actually see results.

top 6 as it used to be 1 and 2 get week 1 off

3 vs 6 match a
4 vs 5 match b

week 2

1 plays 2 winner go straiht to grand final , thus guranteing a team that makes the top 2 is in the final

then the winner of match a plays winner of match 2 , then the winner of this plays the loser of 1 vs 2 simmples

yes system stinks but we know that and the greedy rfl want as much money out of us as they can , in future i will only be attending the semis as its the only game that matters and until they make the tickets cheaper i will not be putting funds in the rfl kittie
