I agree completely. Had Madge not been leaving I think he would have done things differently. The CC was the target to the detriment of all that went after as well as squad development and like it or not the GF is the main trophy.Kittwazzer wrote:Kiwi, I'm really not bothered about losing tonight, I'm looking at the bigger picture and I'm not optimistic.Kiwiseddon wrote:Jesus KW it's one game.
Madge's early departure announcement precipitated a very short term view to grab what we can out of this season, notably a CCF win to add to his CV.
IMO we are now behind Stains who have brought their young players through, albeit out of necessity. We could have done the same but Madge had an agenda that ended today!
All this about we played two more games than Saints etc. So did Leeds and they are in the GF. I really am sick and tired of that excuse because it just isn't one.
And the o/p is right about our lack of regular appearances in the finals. Leeds and Saints have dominated the competition for years in terms of final appearances. Our record is no way good enough in comparison. In the last five years we have got to one GF! That is the reality check.
Tonight we failed again when we had a great opportunity to an under strength Saints side who have played all season away from home!
Madge has left Wane a poorer side due to a Noble like favouritism due the short term view he took. If there is not some good recruitment such as a good centre it will be one GF in six years at the end of 2012. We should not be in this position after 2010 when everything looked so optimistic to where are wondering if we have too many players past their prime and concerned we have not brought players through.
When Madge came over IL said we had a plan for sustained success and when we won in 2010 that we were ahead of the plan. Well I think the plan went out of the window when Madge decided to leave.
