Joel to Union
Re: Joel to Union
Latest I have is that the deal is not cut and dry YET. Joel will go provided Wigan and Saracens can agree a compensation package.
Re: Joel to Union
Have they got any players that could come the other way as part of the deal? Say a Farrell jnr?cpwigan wrote:Latest I have is that the deal is not cut and dry YET. Joel will go provided Wigan and Saracens can agree a compensation package.

CP- thanks for the update. That may be the current word from the club, but if Joel has made his mind up then it will happen. There is no way IFL is going to hang on to an unhappy player it is simply a case of how much he can get for him. A down payment plus other payments linked to Joel's success may be the best way forward.cpwigan wrote:Latest I have is that the deal is not cut and dry YET. We need to make plans for next year and therefore a deal needs to be concluded sooner rather than later - we will be desperate to find a centre from somewhere!
My worry here is why are players, who have progressed through our junior system, wanting to get away. Is it money or some other underlying issue? I could understand why Freddie would want to leave due to the lack of first team opportunities and Bridge going to the Wire to pair up with his brother but I find this episode baffling!

And so the decline of our game continues. Saddening watching it happen knowing nothing is going to be done about it.

That should have no bearing at all. Giz got booed for the whole of his career and what did he do? He rammed it down their throats! This is about money in my view and I can't blame him.jaws1 wrote:shaunedwardsfanclub wrote:CP- thanks for the update. Re: Joel to Union
Can't see if Saracens can make it financially sustainable to sign up Sam/Joel long-term?
They are the RU Champions of England but can only get 5,000 fans at home games, as they had last week. They are actually planning to move grounds to a SMALLER stadium.
In these days when money is tight, it doesn't add up long-term when balancing your books, plus any Transfer fees on top of their wages.
Plus, the game is very different to League - can't see them fitting in with a forward -orientated, kick-a-thon where the ball is out of play for lengthy spells.

Would you not have said the same about Chris Ashton and Jason Robinson?Nezza Faz wrote:
