As for a move to Saracens. Look at their team and decide if he should join a team of South Africans  and how/if he will fit in there?

Joel will be no mug at union, irrespective of what people think.
Money talks, and when Joel lets Sam know exactly what money he is on then the tide will turn.
3 times your usual salary is enough to entice most people, especially if those so close to home are the ones getting the much bigger salary than you.

Been too many league failures to make that claim! And there is no doubt there will be a weight of expectancy placed upon someone with a hefty price tag too

After seeing Leeds win the title from
5th I'm not gonna be arsed how we are performing in the league next year until the playoffs.

What is your interpretation of a League Failure in this instance BM.
Been plenty of players successful transitions from League to Union and some within 5 minutes of changing codes.
Was it 5 club games that Jason Robinson played in before getting his first England call up.
Is Chris Ashton not still the highest try scorer for one season, in the history of Northampton Saints RUFC, all scored within his first season of leaving WWRLFC. Also the highest try scorer in one match for Northampton with 6 tries.
Only time will tell with Joel if he does leave, but I would have my money on him not being a failure though.

Jesus! That can only be answered after he has tried, talk about coming back with "loaded" questions

We all know that centre play does not come naturally to Joel. For everyone mentioning the try at Wembley, someone else can point fingers at the semi final dropped chance (for starters).

Hugely unproven at centre, and expected to play and "alien" sport. Am I wrong in assuming he was not like Edwards and has no previous experience of RU?

Robinson/Connolly etc were established internationals with years of first team experience for their positions before Union came calling. Ashton was a "gamble" that has paid off (although his club at that time HAD been relegated so the pressure was not duly "on" him to perform - and he did for a while struggle and lost his place)

He ain't going to fail. He's big, strong and fast, doesn't have the greatest rugby brain in the world but that's not a pre-requisite for union centres. He's definitely better than the pair England had playing against France.

Who says Rugby League is a minority sport these days. Check out the excellent coverage from Today's Guardian. (Nice picture of Joel Tomkins)
