Carney was everyones favourite player two seasons ago, then he had a broken ankle and played well in the tri-nations, he's been unlucky again this season with injuries and now everyone is saying we should get rid of him. It's funny how opinions change so quickly.

I'd personally like Carney to see out the remaining year of his contract. He's a great player he's just taking his time to come back to form. If he can manage to see out the rest of the season relatively injury free and has a decent pre-season we could have potentially one the best wingers in the world back.
Sense at last, I agree that Carney is genuine class, 6 months ago the Aussie press were talking him up to be the best winger in the world after the Tri-Nations series, he has a run of bad injuries again and you lot decided hes past it, no good, makes to many errors, how about you give him more than time and games to get his match sharpness back, he seems to be free of his injury now and looking more and more confident each game, just give it a few more weeks and he will be firing again. As for the errors, thats just a bad split second decision, it happens to alot of players, it makes them human, not bad players over night.

Also most people were calling for Dallas to leave after he had 3 major injuries in his first 3 seasons, now look at him, the same goes for Carney, we was world class before, and he will be again once he gets some match fitness, my god you have short memories.

I for one hope he stays and signs a new deal, once we get Hock and Lockers back, and Fletcher comes in, and whatever other signings we make, the future looks good, and it will look even better with the best British winger in the game playing for us.

Chris A You should read all the thread. Rumour has it that he is seeking to be RELEASED from the remaining year of his contract.

If this is so he should be SOLD. ie On the transfer list.

Hull sold two wingers and we definately got the pup in Carney. True he did hit some magnificent form - ages ago. We have had ONE decent 1/2 season from him which culminated in his GB appearances.

The future does look promising and if Carney feels that his lies elsewhere, so be it let him go, for a fee.

Yes I read the whole thread, THANK YOU. Hence my last paragraph saying I hope he stays and signs a new deal, meaning I understand that he may want to leave, the paragraphs previous to that where explaining why I want him to stay, is that ok with you ?
Regarding a fee its never going to happen, he wants to go to Australia, fees are never paid in overseas singings are they, so if they let him go it will be for free, that is why I would sooner keep him, and hope he would want to stay with us, if he doesnt then fair enough, and my choice as a replacement would be Calvert, young, British, absolutely rapid, he just needs some good coaching to turn him into the finished article, and who better to work with a young upcoming player than Millward.

Is this the same lad we have released once?
If so the decision appears to have been made about the amount of talent the young man has.

If rumours up here are anything to go by we've already approached him, although he'd always be better off playing semi-pro than the lower end of the professional payscale. He is a fantastic player in NL1 but I'd worry he is a little to slight for SL.

As far as I know he went from Wath Brow to Whitehaven, I saw him playing for Wath Brow against one of my local amateur sides Saddleworth Rangers a few seasons ago now.

You claim to have read the thread ("hence the last paragraph") but what about your first paragraph? No-one has said they want him to leave, but others have joined me in saying he should not be released from his contract and - if the rumours are true - should go on the list.

You might have read it but it obviously hasn't permeated. Anyway, why are you shouting? Is that just your defence mechanism?

Wow, Ok listen up Sigmund Froyd, I said one word in high case in response to the same thing aimed at me, so yeah, now we have that sorted we can move on.
Back to Carney, I wasnt just refering to this thread it was more of a general oppinion I've picked up from this board, alot of people seem to think hes past it or not commited or even both, I do not think hes past it one bit, hes still the best British winger by a mile, and regarding his commitment, I dont question that either. If he does leave then good luck to him, but until he does he will give 100% I am sure, as for getting a fee for him it will never happen, put him on the list ? he doesnt want to join another SL club, and fees are never paid for players in overseas signings are they, its just never gonna happen.

Froyd??

If these stories about him wanting a release from his contract are true, how can his commitment not be in doubt?

Also, at the moment (just coming back from one injury after another) he is a shadow of his former self, so I think anyone raising the question of his being past it has a valid point. IMO the jury is out as to whether we have seen the best of him or not.

Getting a fee for him is not the whole point, either, but a stand needs to be made by the club in these circumstances. Putting him on the list makes a clear statement that if he is talking about leaving everyone must see that he is still under contract (and earning big money) and will not be allowed to walk all over this club.

Finally, do you really wish him good luck if he leaves a year early for free? I certainly would not!! A deal's a deal - as I said in my first (I think) post on this subject, how would he feel if we wanted to wriggle out of the contract a year early?
