Re: Whelan backs the Warriors
Why would the bbc want a massive match on bbc 2 whilst the world watchesfinal score on bbc1?

Apologies, you miss my point....How hard was it for the RFL to insert that clause that the BBC would be given priority etc etc...what you are saying is UNLESS a fixture clashes for Wigan? This only affects one club, every other super league club could fulfill this fixture! Why would the RFL, all the other Super League Clubs, all the broadcasters and all the fans have to bend over backwards and change their plans because Wigan Warriors use another teams stadium? Other clubs have sacrificed wages, outgoings etc to make sure they have their own satisfactory grounds (Salford, Wire, Saints etc etc). The draw was made on Tuesday morning, still no news where it's going to be played??!!!cpwigan wrote:Very simple;Shark Sam wrote:I'm all for fan loyalty but how is this the RFL or the broadcasters fault? The clubs have known these poss dates for months, Wigan are struggling to fulfill a fixture, it is the club and the landlord who are at fault, all the other teams can manage it, it is now a complete joke. If they can play it there great, if not they need to get a grip and get the venue announced so fans, yes fans of both teams can start to get themselves sorted out for the game!
The RFL are fully aware of possible fixture clashes, hence they take account of that when devising a SL fixture list.
The RFL recently renegotiated the CC Sponsorship BEING FULLY AWARE OF POSSIBLE FIXTURE CLASHES
So something is badly awry at the RFL
Mind you this is an organisation that gave away its premier competition naming rights for a few ghost HGVs instead of money.
How hard was it for the RFL to insert a clause that the BBC would be given priority over scheduling of televised CC ties UNLESS a fixture clashes with a Premier League fixture.
Re: Whelan backs the Warriors
Are you absolutely certain that Warrington have sacrificed wages?
“Usually the fans that abuse players like Sam have never done anything of any note themselves. They’re nobodies, whose greatest claim to fame is abusing someone who has, and these so-called ‘Eddie the Experts’ pretend to their mates that they have."

Could they play at home a week on Saturday at 2.30pm without all this amateurism? No wonder as a sport we look like poor relations to other sports....

Looks like it will be played at Leigh or so they seem to think on RLFANS. :conf:

Thanks for the update, hope they announce it asap....for the sake of our great game they just need to make a decision...the longer they all dither the more amateur our sport looks.wigan/pier wrote:Looks like it will be played at Leigh or so they seem to think on RLFANS. :conf:

Just copied this from RLFANS...
This came from the office at Leigh Sports Village,
Leigh v Leeds Friday 20.00 Sky Sports ( 8.00 at night for those quite up to it)
Wigan v St Helens Saturday 14.30 BBC (Half past 2)
Seating tickets £18.00
Standing " £16.00
Not sure how accurate this is only time will tell.

Let's just go to Stains and be done with it.

I have it on very good authority that the game is going to be played at DW on the Saturday at 14:30.
I can't coroborate my source but it's a pretty good one. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly hold my hands up.

Re: Whelan backs the Warriors
there is a way of avoiding this situation, does this round have to be played on this particular weekend? it is only 2 weeks after the last round and there is plenty of time to get 1/4 finals and semi finals in before the final it just needs someone to take ownership of the fixtures and communicate with the relevant parties. This is a business now and people rely on it for jobs and we are dumbing RL down and not promoting it in the right way with these silly arguments.
