It's a complete farce!

The RFL should of pre empted this situation prior to setting the fixtures but they haven't so wigan should of had a plan b set up just incase.

The delaying in announcing a venue is ridiculous and it not only damages the sports credentials but it will have a knock on effect on the attendence. I predicit a sub 15k crowd if we play at the DW, anywhere else and we'll be lucky to get 10k.

Majorly p1ssed off

I know of no other sport that allows a TV company such total control over when matches are played. I'm not talking about like in football where they will move a match from Saturday to Sunday or Monday. The RFL allow the BBC to use the challenge cup as nothing more than a schedule filler. One year they'll cram a couple of rounds into August and the next they dictate that the same rounds be played in May and June.

The RFL needs to state that the Challenge Cup will be played one round per month and will be evenly spaced. The BBC can agree or lose it. After hearing Clare Balding telling all and sundry last year that the referee cost Leeds victory, it would be no loss.

I can't coroborate my source but it's a pretty good one. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly hold my hands up.

That'll be "should HAVE pre-empted this situation. . ."
"of" is not a verb!

The clubs have known these poss dates for months, Wigan are struggling to fulfill a fixture, it is the club and the landlord who are at fault, all the other teams can manage it, it is now a complete joke. If they can play it there great, if not they need to get a grip and get the venue announced so fans, yes fans of both teams can start to get themselves sorted out for the game!
Very simple;

The RFL are fully aware of possible fixture clashes, hence they take account of that when devising a SL fixture list.

The RFL recently renegotiated the CC Sponsorship BEING FULLY AWARE OF POSSIBLE FIXTURE CLASHES

So something is badly awry at the RFL

Mind you this is an organisation that gave away its premier competition naming rights for a few ghost HGVs instead of money.

How hard was it for the RFL to insert a clause that the BBC would be given priority over scheduling of televised CC ties UNLESS a fixture clashes with a Premier League fixture.
Apologies, you miss my point....How hard was it for the RFL to insert that clause that the BBC would be given priority etc etc...what you are saying is UNLESS a fixture clashes for Wigan? This only affects one club, every other super league club could fulfill this fixture! Why would the RFL, all the other Super League Clubs, all the broadcasters and all the fans have to bend over backwards and change their plans because Wigan Warriors use another teams stadium? Other clubs have sacrificed wages, outgoings etc to make sure they have their own satisfactory grounds (Salford, Wire, Saints etc etc). The draw was made on Tuesday morning, still no news where it's going to be played??!!!
The issue was always going to occur and could have done so far more frequently had for example Hull FC been in the Premier League or another club shared their stadia. Something that may become more common place.

N.B The DW is a shared stadia. Funding for its construction required more than 1 sport / club. The end result was a excellent decent sized stadia.

Our club IMO is still looking amateurish within rugby league circles and it's not on!
