Spoiled the game but shows how far Saints have fallen. I'd expect that from lower league sides. You just know with some teams that is what to expect but for Saints to be down there having to do the same is at least some compensation.Kittwazzer wrote:Pathetic plastic scouse bastards saw a total humiliation on the cards and decided to employ Plan B. Official ruined the game and was conned into believing it was mainly Wigan players the muppet.Does he not understand from past experience that when stains are onto a loser the shite side comes into play.Tuson took no prisoners though did he? Good result in the end despite the nature of the game changing.

Re: Wigan v Saints
First and Foremost what a performance again.
Why put Hock in the front row for scrums? We should just take him out of that equation.
How can Hock get sent off and LMS stay on? Ok Hock threw the first punch but LMS followed suit.
Magennis? What a shithouse, saw Tuson walking away and clocked him. Fair play to Tuson for looking after himself and Lockers for helping out. Did anyone see Mossop lay Magennis out? Classic!!
For me Ref has thought it's Hock get him off.
It should have been Hock and Magennis sent off or all 4 of them or none of them, but for LMS to stay on was a joke.
Hock should be no further action as the sending off was enough and same goes for Tuson, Magennis should get a lengthy ban because what he did was disgraceful, cheap shot when Tusons back was turned.
Is Jon Wilkin immune to discipline because he should have clearly been sin binned for persistent infringement.
Fair play to Wellens for his comments after the game, graceful in defeat.
At the end of the day we smashed Stains AGAIN!!

Got to say though, those first 40 minutes were nothing short of theatrically sublime. It was as though we had saved up our best performance for just that one scene.

Re: Wigan v Saints
If anyone Sky+ the game then please watch the fight again and lookout for the following things:-
1. Hock was silly but it was no more than handbags really. They both should have been allowed to stay on in my opinion, not one sent and the other staying on.
2. Magennis face when him and Tuson first square up, priceless, the shithouse.
3. Magennis then clearly cracks Tuson with his back turned and Tusons reaction is perfectly acceptable in my eyes.
4. Lockers is Brilliant for supporting.
5. Mossop just bides his time and clocks Magennis a treat and puts him on his ass.
6. Magennis doesn't have a clue who hit him when he gets up, very funny!
7. Watch Meli and how he reacts to Mossop.
8. Finally, and best of all watch 'Hard Man' Wilkin throughout, brilliant tv!!
Just like to say I would have obviously preferred it not to have happened and I am not condoning fighting at all, but sometimes it has to be done and fair play to our boys for defending themselves.

Great display by Wigan - absolutely top class performance. Goulding and Charnley are an awesome pairing.
Why didn't the ref just send a few players to the bin for gods sake as he spoiled a great match.(from Wigans viewpoint!!) Can't see any lengthy bans from that - no one got hurt and to be honest some of the high tackles could have caused more injury than the punches that were thrown. Having said that how fast can Tuson punch!!!!!!!!

I noticed this, it was a peach of shot and Magennis' reaction was funny. I am hoping the RFL do not notice it as I'm sure they would take great pleasure in handing out bans to half of our team.TrueBlueWarrior wrote:5. Mossop just bides his time and clocks Magennis a treat and puts him on his ass.
Didn't see his reaction or record the game what happened?TrueBlueWarrior wrote:7. Watch Meli and how he reacts to Mossop.
I think the ref over reacted to be honest, I could have understood Magennis getting a red for blindsiding Tuson but yellow would have sufficed otherwise.

Yeah it could definately lead to a ban for Mossop or maybe even a WBO heavyweight title boxing match!! Great dig!!
Well if I had just seen one of my team mates floored by an opponent I would have a go back, having said that Meli probably realised he would be the next on the floor. He instead just looks at Moose and basically pats him on the back as if to say either well done or please not me as well! Great viewing!

Saints 16 Wigan 42
WIGAN demonstrated breathtaking brilliance to maintain their position at the top of the Stobart Super League, but the final game of the 2012 Magic Weekend will best be remembered for an ugly brawl which produced three red cards.
The Warriors had forwards Gareth Hock and Chris Tuson sent off by referee Ben Thaler, along with St Helens substitute Shaun Magennis, after they were ruled largely responsible for the fighting that erupted at a scrum in the 53rd minute.
Wigan were leading 34-6 at the time and managed to hang on with 11 men for a comfortable victory that brought down the curtain on the two-day jamboree at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium in sensational fashion.
The double-chasing Warriors were simply unstoppable as they swept aside their arch rivals for the third time in two months to extend their winning run in all matches to 10.
Poor Saints were once more no match for the 2010 champions, who continue to exact sweet revenge for last September’s play-off defeat.
Winger Josh Charnley, Super League’s top tryscorer, scored two of his side’s eight touchdowns to take his tally for the season to 20 and make up for another off-day with the boot.
He missed all four kicks at goal in his previous match against Huddersfield and managed just five successes from 10 attempts tonight to let Saints off the hook.
Full-back Sam Tomkins was also in magnificent tryscoring form but it was in-form Australian stand-off Brett Finch who did most of the early damage, creating the opening for Tomkins’ first try and then getting Hock in the clear for the second.
The powerful forward sliced between defenders Josh Perry and Sia Soliola and sidestepped full-back Paul Wellens for a glorious try which underlined his exceptional talent and makes his disciplinary lapses all the more perplexing.
Tomkins thrilled the Wigan fans who accounted for a good proportion of the crowd of 32,953 at the Etihad Stadium with a brilliant 50-metre solo try, demonstrating his guile and acceleration to take his tally for the season to 12.
It was near-perfection for the Warriors as skipper Sean O’Loughlin took a return pass from Darrell Goulding to touch down and, although a jinking run from Jonny Lomax created a try for Saints substitute Paul Clough, it was largely one-way traffic up to half-time.
Charnley grabbed his second on the stroke of the interval, racing onto Goulding’s deft kick to the corner, and it got even better for Wigan when veteran centre George Carmont, who turns 34 next month, fended off Michael Shenton to race 80 metres for their seventh try.
That took Wigan’s lead to 34-6 but they were forced to play the last 27 minutes with 11 men after Hock and Tuson paid the price for the second-half flare-up.
St Helens lost replacement forward Magennis at the same time but they gave themselves brief renewed hope when Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook showed exceptional pace for a prop to score a 20-metre try.
But Charnley kicked a penalty and then broke down the wing to get replacement back rower Liam Farrell over for Wigan’s eighth try before Wellens scored a consolation effort for his well-beaten side.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
