Finchy has recently got an English girlfriend, he told that me personally last month & he seemed very happy about it.

He brought her to the SO'L testimonial the other week & they both seemed very content.
Let's hope she gets knocked up fairly sharpish then, and she doesn't want to move away from her mum and family (like big Jeff's missus) :devi:

Finch has been great this year and unless Lenegan breaks the bank I cant see him staying at Wigan. I cant see him going to another SL club and think that he will go to the NRL.

The pity is if Wigan offered him a new deal sooner then he would have stayed. However they waited to see how he went this season, which is fair enough in some respects, but he has been exceptional which has meant that his market value has gone up considerably and that other clubs now want him. Lenegan always plays hard ball but needs to realise that the power doesnt always lie with him and at times it is the player that has all the power.

What you say may well be true but these things are easy to say after a player has been in great form in a team that is playing exceptionally well. From my limited knowledge of IL he does understand that the better sides get there because they tend to plan better than others. I do agree with other posters on here though, I'd love Finch to stay.

After another fantastic performance against Leeds, Brett Finch has got to be offered a new big money deal to stay unless obviously there are reasons out of Wigan's control that stop him staying in Super league.
I'm 100% convinced that he won't go to any other Super league club as I'd be very surprised if any of our other clubs could come anywhere close financially to tempt him to sign for them.
With the club already losing one halfback in Tommy then IL needs to realise that keeping Finch is of the uttmost importance and offer him the deal he wants.
Although i'm guessing some of the younger squad players will be rewarded with better contracts there must be substantial amounts left on the salary cap to really break the bank for Brett and still replace Tommy with quality.
I'll be the first to admit that last season I was disappointed with his contribution at times but this year he's settled and I reckon the guy is brilliant.

I'm gonna be gutted if he leaves as he's a joy to watch.

Come on IL, GET YOUR HAND IN YOUR POCKET AND GIVE THE MAN WHAT HE WANTS AND DESERVES.

He has already stated he couldn't play for another SL club against Wigan :)
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

How about offering him the captaincy? I'm sure it could be done without making it look a slight to Lockers. Let's face it, he plays like a captain anyway!

Am I right in thinking that he came to Super League to escape NRL, being constantly in the spotlight, etc. (I could be wrong, but I thought I read it on here somewhere...)? If so, I wouldn't have thought that he would want to go back, and if he feels he can't go to another SL club, the signs look pretty positive that he would stay!

It was CP who highlighted how SL can enjoy a 'normal family life' unlike their NRL counterparts who are apparently revered in Oz similar to football players over here. Seems it is a big attraction for them!
