St helehs have today confirmed the signing of willie manu for 2013 season. On a 2 year deal.

Are they mad, long may it continue

He's an improvement on Shenton!

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

My sentiments exactly.Still a powerful runner with the ball in hand but at 32 not the kind of player one expects from the stains.A couple of years ago he would have been worth a punt.Surprised they have not gone in for Liam Watts who appears to want away from HKR.As you say long may this kind of forward thinking continue. :D

Certainly doesn't take much to get their fans excited does it. Already a 7 page thread on RedVee and a much bigger one on RL fans!

Another thing I've spotted is the name Wellens rather than the more endearing 'Wello', as more and more people are suggesting he's come to the end of the road!

Willie Manu ??

Post by 12webbl »

I think this could be the demise of st helens, imo manu is an inconsistent player who is only decent at his best and at 32 only has 2 years in him, with wellens also getting older and hohaia not having the impact everybody thought he would have i think the stains could be in real trouble next season. Also next season is bound to be a 'transition season' for them where they probably wont win anything so wouldnt it make more sense to bring in younger players and build them up during the transition period so that when they do get organised the players in that system have plenty of years left in them, and although this is a wigan forum i just thought it was a interesting decision for stains to sign someone who imo is 'past it'.

What do you mean next season, I don't think they will win a lot this season, they won nothing last season, how many transition seasons do they need :doz: :doz:

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Think stains are going for their own "8 in a row" - that is grand final losses! :D
