Why? Do you doubt tim smith's talent.
I dont think people doubt Tim Smiths talent WG, its maybe doubts about his behaviour off the field that people have doubts with such as his chequered past of scuffles and drunken behaviour.
I have a lot more doubt about his off field performances to be honest. His defence was the worst I have ever seen from a professional RL player and he was a complete liability. He also has no running game. He is a cracking passer of the ball but when that is all you have got he is pretty easy to defend against. I certainly havent seen anything from him at Wakefield that makes me think we should sign him.

Matty Smith on radio Manchester says he has signed for no one. He is in talks with four clubs through the offers they have made..
This has been confirmed on sky sports today

With Wigans reluctance to announce signings and new contracts, I would not be suprised to see him here next year having signed that 3 year deal some time a go.

Far as I am concerned, until it is officially announced by the club, it hasn't happened. How many people 'in the know' confidently stated on here that “Brett's going nowhere!”!
