Mickey don't mess with me Mac will have a week off, Sam rested yesterday, Hanson back soon, Richards back soon, hopefully Tommy back soon. The Lockers at 6 debate always comes up if we lose when he plays there but believe me we are in a better place physically this year as we were this time last year. Plus Bradford had a point to prove last night and would've turned anyone over, it was one of those nights, hence Salford destroying Wire.
Well if that doesn't make the case for Sam at 6 with TL out nothing will.

dave o obsessed with his pov. wigan down to 12 men narrowly lost to a team with huge motivation. personally i think lockers moving from 13 means 2 key losses at 7 and 13 and yet dave wants to continue making such changes using our fb at 6. surely it is far better to keep lockers at 13 , sam at 1 and find a 6 but then again minimisig change would ruin daves obsession with sam to 6. persoonally my biggest worry re last night is macs pending suspension.

A strong comment about Micky Mac, Kitt.Kittwazzer wrote:I can't see Sam being moved back to 6 and don't think the UKs top FB should play there just because the UKs best LF isn't that flexible.
Its a HB problem and needs to be fixed from our HB solutions. Williams, Mellor or Powell.
And I'm not overexcited at the prospect of Logan starting in place of a banned Micky McStupid. Carberry would be my choice!
Reaction is difficult to control when someone is throwing punches (elbows) at you.
I would have tried to knock Elimas head off had he belted his elbow into my cheek bone three times.
IMO another over the top reaction from a referee to send a Wigan player off.

Agree with you PM, the rules are completely arse about face. A player hits you several times with impunity and you get a red card if you react. Still, Micky knows the rules and shouldn't have fallen into the trap. According to the paper, they 'continued the argument, outside the dressing rooms after the match!Panchitta Marra wrote:A strong comment about Micky Mac, Kitt.Kittwazzer wrote:I can't see Sam being moved back to 6 and don't think the UKs top FB should play there just because the UKs best LF isn't that flexible.

If you move the country's best loose forward away from that position the team will be weaker.
If you move the country's best full back from that position it therefore follows that this will also weaken the team.
As much as I would like to see Williams or Hampshire given a run out, they are away on tour from mid-July to mid-August so this isn't an option.
For me the best balance we can get given our resources are:
1. Sam
6. Finch
7. Mellor
13. O'Loughlin

Elima is the type of player that winds opposition up, he also gets some nasty digs in at players.Kittwazzer wrote:Agree with you PM, the rules are completely arse about face. In last nights game he made attempts at Lee Mossop, Gaz Hock and Micky McIllorum. Lee backed off, Gaz gave some reaction but managed to keep his temper under control, but it finally got to Micky with those elbow shots which did make contact from where I was sat.
I agree as you say Kitt, that Micky shouldnt have fallen into that retaliation trap, but I would also ask Robey why he allowed Elima to elbow someone in the face.

Re: Well if that doesn't make the case for Sam at 6...
Last night meant nothing - behind our 'normal' pack Lockers would have shone.
It was the weakest team we've fielded in years and unlike Widnes earlier in the year the team selections Waney made were mostly forced upon him.
We were missing Tomkins, Richards, Goulding (for a good chunk of the match), Leulua, Lima, Prescott, Hanson, Tuson and if you want to include him Fielden. I defy you to take any of the equivalent players out of our equivilantly placed competitive teams and watch them win Bradford.
It's a credit to the potential of the younger squad players that we only just lost and until MM got sent off for rising to BS and niggle we looked like winning.

And as Mellor proved last week......He can keep hold of a Finch passGod wrote:IMO Finch is a must at second reciever and SOL at 13. All this Tomkins at 6 for me isnt the answer hes a fullback and thats his best position bar none.
1.Tomkins
7. Mellor recall him we have nothing to loose and despite him leaving is STILL a Wigan player and the best player Widnes currently have.
6.Finch this is an absolute must imo.
13. Sol, this also is an absolute must we loose way to much in an already depleated pack, too many kids in there at the moment and the pack needs a leader.

Re: Well if that doesn't make the case for Sam at 6...
Our success this season has been based on a dominant pack, it is therefore common sense to me that you pick your best six each week. SOL is crucial to the battle up front, especially when we have so many forwards missing with injury. Hence, I am perplexed regarding the decision the move him into the halfback position. SOL also adds another option to our attack and provides alternative threats to the opposition defence.
I have said it before, and I'll say it again, why change the whole structure because of one injury? It would be far easier to slot-in another seven and maintain continuity. It is unfortunate that Powell has had a bad injury and it short of match fitness, and it is at lot to ask of Williams to step-up on a regular basis. Tomkins could be the answer but he is devestating at full back - Bradford got a mighty lift when his name wasn't on the team sheet. My preference is, therefore, Mellor, as a short-term replacement for Tommy, as he is battle hardened, up to the pace of SL and understands our stuctures. Yes, he has lost the turn of pace he once had, and that will probably result in Wigan not offering him a new contract, but I think he will give more balance to the side.
