The only obsession as you put it is from those like you who won't countenance playing Sam Tomkins at 6.
William and Hampshire are off in tour. Mellor shows no sign of being recalled from Widnes and Powell has been out injured for ages so to play him would be a huge risk.
That leaves two choices for Wane. Stick with Lockers, which I fear hew will, or make ONE positional change of moving Sam to six.
Where is Sam most effective for the team? FB or 6?
The tour option can be cancelled. There was talk that Bateman and Currie would not go either.
The tour option could be cancelled but are you seriously suggesting Wigan would deny their young players this opportunity?
As I said we seem to have two realistic options, stick with Lockers or play Sam at 6. I'd rather Mellor be recalled than stick with Lockers at 6 as I really do not think it works well at all but it just doesn't look likely to happen.

Then you would be mad.
They won't get to play at Wembley if TL is fit but I don't think we will get there if we stick with Lockers at 6 so it could be a moot point.
And as for a Wigan début they will get that at some time anyway and I think you will find that they will want to tour.
I also think it is unlikely the club would prevent someone who had been picked for England touring so they could be used as a stop gap.
If the player coming in does very well there is no reason why they will not play at Wembley. A tour or Wembley no contest; several first team games for Wigan or several on tour, no contest again.
Why should Wigan not ask youngsters not to tour. We are not keen on our first teamers playing internationally either. Other clubs are not keen on their best touring either.
Williams has been the subject of a substantial bid already. Bateman at Bradford likewise.
Do you seriously believe clubs put country before club?

Surely it depends on where those at the club see the youngsters in terms of development. If they think they aren't quite ready to play Super League yet then I imagine they'd only be played in the first team as a last resort and therefore the club would probably see it as in their best interests to let them tour.
It depends on the player and the circumstances but sometimes they can be ready and needed; Bateman at the Bulls, a 6 at Wigan?

I think you are being completely unrealistic here given the players concerned.

Until today no. Even now unless we play Lockers at 6 in the CC which is not my choice we still need to play our CC team together in the run up to the final if we get there.
