Re: Ben Thaler complaint
Sorry but I'm going against the grain. Just watched the game again for the sake of objectivity and one thing Thaler didn't do is force Wigan to make the errors we did.
All in all, in comparison to officiating at other SL games, Thaler did reasonably well.

Re: Ben Thaler complaint
It wasn't that he made mistake after mistake (apart from ignoring offside and square at marker), it was that he made mistakes at such key points that cost Wigan.
The last time he did this was against stains when he failed to send off LMS.
He is not up to the job or he is doing it deliberately. Either way, CP is right, the fans have to let him know just what we think of him - and that idiot roby too. It worked with Ganson, we gave him a hard time and he sorted his act out.

You could almost accept that Thaler may have made mistakes for the forward pass and ball steal, but the video ref wouldn't have been able to call on them anyway.
The knock on though, I fail to see that all the officials could not see a knock on, if that was the case, they shouldn't be allowed to drive, never mind ref a game!
If for some reason they all managed to miss the knock on, then you have an argument for all tries to be looked at by the video ref, because the officials on the pitch can't be trusted. I can't see how anyone could blame that knock on, on a mere mistake, the official are probably the only people watching the game that missed it.

The only really bad decision was the McGuire knock-on: the others you could put down to human error etc. The failure to go to the VR McGuire is inexcusable.

Re: Ben Thaler complaint
There's a basic issue of honesty here. How often were Leeds players square at the PTB? How many penalties did we get for it? On one occassion the second marker was a yard to the side and by the end they forgot the pretence altogether and the second marker just stood in the defensive line.
Unlike, I assume, most of you on here Wigan are my second sports' team. I try to be objective and accept fair defeat without allowing it to ruin my entire week. Too often though, I have left games where the officiating has been as bad and one-eyed as yesterday. Most controversial football matches are decided by one poor decision that affects the result, not three as happens too often here.

Ben Thaler is employed by the RFL and will do exactly what he is instructed by his bosses, to think that Thalers performance was not influenced by the RFL is naive, remember to a certain extent we all do what our boss tells us and Thaler is no different!!

All referees receive instructions on how and when to go to the video ref. To that extent I agree with you 100%TrueBlueWarrior wrote:Ben Thaler is employed by the RFL and will do exactly what he is instructed by his bosses, to think that Thalers performance was not influenced by the RFL is naive, remember to a certain extent we all do what our boss tells us and Thaler is no different!!
If you are suggesting that he was influenced to perform badly, or even worse give a try to Leeds that should not stand, you are 100% wrong.
No referee in the game is intentionally favouring other teams over wigan, and nor is the RFL. Yesterday was just a very bad example of how calls can go against a team.

Sorry Jules but I will just reiterate what I previously said, anybody who doesn't think Thalers performance was not influenced by the RFL is naive, they are more corrupt than NYPD, that doesn't take away the fact that Leeds played well and we were awful!!

Jules I have stood in earshot of RFL match / match coach officials make very sinister negative comments about fellow match officials. I have also been party to several past / present match officials expressing hatred / dislioke for Wigan RLFC. 'Bastards' was the term used by one ex referee to describe Wigan. Do you think such people are objective.
Every person is subjective IMO. The level of subjectivity is determined whether or not they think they can get away with it or not.
Why do you think politicians / highest ranking business officials get awat with virtually murder. A match official making one or two favourable decisions to suit his own subjectivity is a mere drop in the ocean compared to the level of corruption that exists in the world today.

I note you have not mentioned the other try where Leeds knocked on to a Wigan player and subsequent scrum given to Wigan. That said line defence was abysmal. Jim
