Gelling / Thornley
Re: Gelling / Thornley
To be fair to Gelling the idea as stated by Waney was a long term project. Personally, I always felt King was not given a chance but Thornley will.

Thornley
Thornley to replace Gelling against London?

Re: Gelling / Thornley
King & thornley desreve a go.King looked really good against Leeds U20's when he played along side Thornley, from what I have seen of the u20'S this season he has not had a great service from his regular centre.
Re: Gelling out, Thornley in.
I would say this was made clear to SW before Gelling arrived,by Dean Bell.Due you not think this topic has now run its course?[/quote]platt-warrior wrote:waterside glens wrote:quote="cpwigan"]Jim;
Gelling is a centre / second rower doing his best as a winger.
Yes. Well said.

Alas Waney states he is a winger :conf:

Pleased to see that Shaun listened to what I was recommending.ian.birchall wrote:On the basis of 80 minutes today at Wakey there is already no doubt in my mind that Ian Thornley, who I know is really another centre, has to be on the wing ipo Gelling next Saturday.
He took his two tries excellently, was only prevented a third by a tap into touch whereas young Gelling, who is also smaller!, bombed at least one try in the dead ball area but what was even more noticeable to me Carmont declined to pass the ball out to him and tried unsuccessfully to get to the line himself immediately before Sams second try, if Carmont is worried that the lad is going to bomb gilt edged tries then give him Thornley to sse what he can make of him.

Re: Gelling / Thornley
I wonder what are the thoughts after Thornleys performance yesterday, particularly his bone idle lumber back in the last couple of minutes when Broncos should have scored. Had that been Gelling the board would have been on fire.
Re: Gelling / Thornley
It's a toss up.......... who's the worst?
Re: Gelling / Thornley
and again I chime into a topic with the same statement as always
Gelling is not a winger
Iain is not a winger
Never have been and never will be.
There is Ryan King, Jack Murphy,Matty Russell, Lyon-fraser or Joe Burgess waiting to play who are out right or as close to wingers as possible
