Wire Away - how do we beat them?
As the big game gets closer, I must say my anticipation levels are rising. I am so looking forward to us making a major statement on Saturday. I think Wire have been the hardest team we have faced in the last few years, but felt that we got very close to them at the DW, and can now take the next step.
I think the key to success will be the forward battle, and eliminating errors (Lima take note). We have enough creativity in the backs to score over 20 points. We just need to keep their forwards from getting a roll on. Easier said than done.
I would start with Lima and Mossop and have Flower and Lauaki as interchange props. I might almost be tempted to have Prescott on the bench as well, so we should be able to spell our big lads the instant their energy levels drop.
With Finch back, and Smith settling in very nicely, we can run through our usual array of deadly attacking moves to release Hock, Sam, Fuzzy and Baby Josh.
Let's get the Challenge Cup DVD out and remind ourselves how speed In attack and pressure in defence can crack them.

COYW???? Exiled Wiganer, please don't start the Stains habit or before you know it, you'll be putting 'RIP' after every mention of Central Park!
Seriously though, I think this is one game SW will have his men wound up for. No team has ever got the double on his watch. (Stains haven't even managed the single
)
At home, yes we were bad but they were far far worse and poor officiating cost us that night. Watching Wire on Monday, they went hell for leather in the first 20 which is exactly how we play. We need to win the initial arm wrestle and get an early lead because they seem to panic once they lose the initiative. And the extra 3 days won't do us any harm either.
Fear the Hoops. (See. You've got me doing it now!

Probably. If I knew what it stood for!Exiled Wiganer wrote:Is FIOS acceptable?

It would be a great pity if Wigans goalkicking was the difference between winning and losing.
Hope it's not the case though.

Please don't use abbreviations or text speak just in case IKittwazzer wrote:Probably. If I knew what it stood for!Exiled Wiganer wrote:Is FIOS acceptable?

Thanks

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Thanks for that Josie, I don't understand half quarter of what all that text talk stands for but I've been too embarrassed to admit it on here before. Maybe someone can give us a breakdown of what the popular ones mean, not that I'm prepared to go all texty-talky anyway. I've just tried to fathom them out then give up, peripheral dross I call it.
Re: Wire Away - how do we beat them?
It was a factor in the last game against them - i think we missed 3 or 4 without checkingRon Doran wrote:It would be a great pity if Wigans goalkicking was the difference between winning and losing.

I think Shaun Wayne summarised his strategy for winning very well on Boots n'All.
