As much as i agree with the content, surely this is only going to earn them fines and get them in hot water!?

Don't care if it does. About time someone with a high profile raised this matter. And when all is said and done, this was still a democracy last time I checked!

They haven't come out and had a few snipes for nothing they have been asked a question and answered it honestly.

IMHO decisions like the Mickey Mac 1 will ruin our game not because fans can't see him play for 3/4 games but because in the future teams will simply play an A-team in nothing games and what that will do is protect important players from the RFL but it will also stop fans from seeing premium rugby and could influence the league positions lower down opening a can of worms for other clubs saying its not fair they play a weaker team for that game and not ours. Clubs could miss the top 8 due to this kind of situation.

Not good.

Sam's comments are more controversial than Tommy's. Sam might get a word in his ear but they can't punish him too much as he is basically the face of the game in this country now and they need him talking to the media.

How can that be defamatory? Its a fact! There are no statutes for how an offence should be handled so you will always get whatever decision is made on the pitch in the spur of the moment i.e. a lottery. You can't be sued for that!!

Anyway - lets face it - nothing will be said about what Tommy said as everyone loves him (even a work contact who is a Saints fan said he would sell St Helens town hall to get a Saints shirt on him) but whatever would all the Sam-haters (I can hear the chant of 'RatBoy' now!) hate him for today if he didn't open his mouth. God forbid that happen!!

Keep being controversial Sam! Hating you is the only thing that makes some people get of bed it seems.....

They'll probably get 3 matches each - that's the standard penalty for Wigan players at the RFL isn't it?

If the RFL were anywhere near consistent, then players like Morley and Wilkin would play less than half a season. As it is, they rarely get cited, let alone banned.

What this will do is make sure that Kylie Leuileu will get banned for punching against Wakefield.

Nothing Sam does or says is going to change other club's "fans" opinion of him - you only need to see the whinoes "supporters" booing him when he played for England.
"And Martin Offiah, trying to make some space, now then..." - Ray French, Wembley 1994

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

then he came out and make a big deal of how much playing for England meant to him and claimed that is the most important thing for him etc and he got slated by our fans for not being as committed to Wigan - he can't win

Good on Sam and Tommy but I wish the club would be more vocal.I know other teams would say it is only sour grapes coming from Wigan but I'm sure IL and SW have an opinion. And if so they should voice them despite the cowardly rfl possibly giving both SW and the club a fine. The louder we shout the more chance we have of being listened to. :D
