I would never question our boys effort or desire but as a whole the players did not play to their full ability levels tonight unlike Leeds, if they had of done we would have won comfortably no matter what SW did before, during or after the game. If you asked every single player after the game tonight for an honest answer as to why we lost the game tonight, they would or at least should say because we the players did not play as well as we could or should!
The idea that Wane has so little influence on how the team plays is just wrong. He can't be lauded when we win and be absolved of any blame when we lose.
I never said that Wane has little influence on how the team plays, I said that once the game starts he has very little influence on how the players perform, 2 massive differences.
How they perform once the game starts is a lot to do with how he tells them to play the game! It is obvious the teams approach is different to under Madge. He has told them to play like this. His selections also influence how the team will play when they take to the field.
I have never lauded him when we win because that is his job, I have also never slaughtered him when we lose because it is his job to put it right,.....
So the coach takes no credit if we win? Why do the players then given that is their job also? Sport is all about achievement and the plaudits that go with it and also the brickbats that go with failure.
.....I think he deserves another season to be given that chance, don't you?
Why does he deserve another season? Because he is a nice bloke? He
will get another season at least. I think that is obvious but I don't think he
deserves it as such base don his performance this season.
Before this season started Wane went on record saying he felt Wigan could improve this year over last. He said he reckoned we lost too many games by the odd point in 2011 and by fixing that he would get Wigan playing even better than 2011. He has failed to do this largely down to him implementing a kind of revolution rather than evolving and building on what Madge did (which is what I expected him to do).
If he is stubborn and carries on with his own methods as he has said he will do recently I will be surprised if he is coach in 2014.
