Are we missing a leader?

In the second half, when Lockers moved from hooker back to his preferred loose forward, the game changed considerably. We scored two tries to their one in the first & the only points they scored in the second half was a dubious penalty :exc:

Lockers & Sinfield are two different players & two different types of captain :exc:

I'm not disputing his playing qualities Josie just his captaincy ability which I insist he still lacks as he cannot think tactically when under pressure.

Lockers is a fine player and leads by example,he does not have to run around shouting at players to show his leadership.As for a game plan,we have one and that is go like hell from the kick off and blitz the opposition.Of course against top opposition this is not always possible and then we are knackered as we have no plan B.SW's way of coaching is like a bull in a china shop,i hope he mellows and realises this will achieve little.

O loughlin is a terrifc leader who leads by example! He may not be the most vocal on the field but you dont have to be, he is far and away our best tackler

Come on then, all those of you who think Lockers isn't Captain material, you know better than Madge and Shaun Wane.
Who, from the current squad, not dreaming of a major signing, but playing currently or already signed, who would you suggest could be a better captain?
There is no one in that squad that would be a better captain. I would not pick another captain from any other SL club over O'Loughlin. Sinfield may have a better kicking game, but thats a different issue completely. Kicking isn't Lockers job, although he can make a decent job of it when required. Best captain by a mile from the current squad.

He led by example and was looked up to by the rest of the team.
Kevin Sinfield, Ellery Hanley, Dean Bell, Paul Sculthorpe etc etc. None of them were as vocal as Faz.

I think your missing the point? a leader does not have to be the captain. He is a player who is genually a half back who controls the play and changes it by his kicking or inteligent play. We need to go back to Barret or Lammy to find such a player who influenced our game and niether were captains. So the answer to the question is a resounding YES

Aha, I see what you mean and I agree.

My post was aimed more at the people who were claiming Lockers wasn't a good captain. I agree that a leader doesn't have to be a captain. When I used to play, we had a lot of players who were far more vocal than our captain. But, my God, did the Captain lead by example. He tackled anything that moved and took the ball up far more often than most. As a result we felt like he lifted the team.

I suppose it's a bit rare to find a player that is both a fantastic leader and inspiration as well as a good Captain to his team.
