Starting 13 announced
IMs selection is a big reshuffle this week. Here's why I think he did it.
Brown at FB - he was crap in defence in the line last week.
Botham in the centre with Melling - trying to sure up the defence in the centres
Coyle at SH - gets his first league start in his perfered position
Moran at SO - lets face it, he was a crap full-back under the high ball. Those who were saying he had a good game at FB should remember that he was playing as SH when we were attacking and reverting to FB only in defence.
SeuSeu dropped to the bench - despite an effective game last week. Perhaps IM wants an impact player on the bench.
Wild dropped to the bench - was rubbish in defence last week.
Allen at LF - gets his second start this season. IMO Allen is a real prospect. He has great footwork, but needs more size and experience.
Full team:
Brown, Melling, Aspinwall, Botham, Carney, Moran, Coyle, Guisset, Newton, Sculthorpe, Hansen, Tickle, Allen. Subs - four from the following five: Seuseu, Godwin, Wild, Hargreaves, Tomkins.

I know I haven't been to many matches this year but I find it frightening that I don't know most of the team! :conf:

He's crap anywhere at the moment. Only in the team because hes fit to play IMO.Mike posted:

Agreed.Botham in the centre with Melling - trying to sure up the defence in the centres
Muck or nettles. Either an inspired move or Coyle will get murdered.Coyle at SH - gets his first league start in his perfered position
So? The switch of positions was a tactic from Millward and not a comment on his FB play. He only lost the high balls in the first half when the sun was shining in his eyes. Hull swapped sides before kick off and kicked to the east side of the pitch where the sun was shining through the gap between the north and east stand. Or didn't you notice? Hull did and it was a smart move.Moran at SO - lets face it, he was a crap full-back under the high ball. Millward said somewhere last week after the game Jerry is playing injured but continues to want to play. Maybe that has something to do with it.SeuSeu dropped to the bench - despite an effective game last week. Perhaps IM wants an impact player on the bench.
Given how Wild played he is IMO lucky to be on the bench as Tomkins looks more interested than him.Wild dropped to the bench - was rubbish in defence last week.

Agree about Allen but I hope we don't just drop him for someone else at LF next week. We must be playing a different player there each week and that can't be good.

DaveO posted:I know it was tactics by IM playing Moran in 2 positions. However, just because he started at FB, doesn't mean he had a good game at FB. He didn't get within 5 yards of the bounce of the ball on a couple of occasions - one of which led to a try. He just couldn't judge it in flight at all. I don't think Rads would have been put off as badly by the sun. He didn't make a tackle at FB (didn't have to make a crucial one anyway), so if he had a good game (which I thought he did), it was at SH in attack. He defends out in the centres when he's playing SH anyway so there wasn't much difference to him - apart from getting found out by kicks.Mike posted:So? I'm not saying Brown is any better under the high ball, but at least he won't be getting beaten on the outside by his opposite centre constantly like last week. I wonder how Melling or Colborn would do at full back? Personally, I'd quite fancy Dallas at FB if Rads is out for a while (although not now obviously). As has been mentioned before, he's quite good under the high ball, good at taking the ball up after a kick and pretty keen to get involved in the attack in the middle of the field.

Last week when the squad was announced it said Browny was at full back and then Moran ended up playing there. Could be the same again?

Re: Starting 13 announced
I'd imagine milly wants at least one experienced half back so will pair up moran and coyle, although brown and moran could alternate.
Good to see wild on the bench, has botham ever played centre before or is milly just taking a gamble?

Botham used to play on the wing in RU, and if he plays 2nd row in league, there is no reason he couldn't play centre. I'm pretty sure i've seen him in the centres before aswell, although I could be wrong.
Re: Starting 13 announced
I thought the same. If the order is anything to go by we have Melling on the left wing with Apinwall his centre. I would have thought he'd have Aspinwall on the right with Carney, unless he thinks Botham is a stronger tackler or playing against Senior in training will make him more able to defend the famous McGuire and Senior moves down that channel.Wizard_Millward posted:
