I predict a poor season with us being knocked out early in the challenge cup and finnishing 6th. We may win the first round of the play offs but get knocked out in the second proberly by Leeds who will finnish 5th again and go on to win it again I hope this is only a bad dream but i feel very depressed at the moment with the way our team looks on paper

Where we will finish doesn't matter any more.

Under the current (stupid) rules all that matters is if we get our name on either the Challenge Cup or the GF Trophy (WTF is it really called anyway?).

I think we'd need lot of luck to win either and I can't see it.

The one hope is we "do a Sheffield" and despite being un-fancied get to the CC final and catch someone out on an off day.

I'd love to be wrong but the side looks to lack enough class and experience to trouble the like of Leeds and Wire.

If I am right it is a sad reflection on SL as it means those two sides with ageing players are the favourites for the trophies.

When you look at the selected from, they don't fill me with excitement.

It's the half backs that worry me.

Would love to see us finish 7th place and go on and destroy every team in the play offs then annihilate Leeds (who finished 5th) in the final by 45 points, i wonder if the play off system would changed after Wigan won it from such a low position :eusa16:

4th or 5th,this is the weakest squad for a few years.I dont rate Smith, props not the strongest(Mossop excepted)and Hughes or Thornley are not good enough to fill Georges boots.

If Leeds finish 5th and Wigan 6th they can't play each other unless they both get to the final. I think we'll finish 3rd or 4th and have a good cup run. The play offs will depend on which team has the biggest number of their top class players available.

I think we’ll finish with 38 points, which should have us comfortably in the top 3. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say we’ll finish 2nd after Warrington and before Leeds.

I think we’ll win the Challenge cup but get knocked out in the semi-finals of the SLC.

A main concern could be the lack of experienced & directive players such as Tommy and (especially) Finch on the field. I really like O'Loughlin but I don’t think he’s harsh enough with the rest of the team when he’s on the field- something that Finch really stepped-up to. Unfortunately, apart from O'Loughlin (in terms of experience) there’s only really Pat Richards. I’d say Hock, but he’s one who needs to be controlled rather than doing the controlling.

Yes, the squad is overall pretty young and a young squad often means more errors: I think one of the most decisive factors in which team finishes top has to be the number of handling errors.

I know we’ll be without Tommy, Carmont & Finch but will replacing them be that difficult?

Tommy L for Smith: From what I saw of him at the end of the last season, Smith’s kicking game was ace (I’d say better than Tommy’s) which if exploited correctly with Richards & Charlney on wing, could be devastating. He’s a great dummy half, but don’t really know if he’ll match up to Tommy defensively.

Green for Finch: I just watched this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6RNSD71ME4 – he looks really fast! He times his passes perfectly and very accurately; his in play kicking looks awesome and he really seems to know how to break up a defensive line.

Huges for Carmont: I think we’ll end up missing Carmont most of the three big departures. However, Jack Huges was the stand-out youngster of last season: blinding in defense and very, very fast. Obviously, Carmont’s experience and cool-headedness will be lacking in Huges, but he’s got lots of flare that might make up for it.

These positions aside, as far as the backs are concerned I think we’re looking really good: we’ve now got Thornley & Gelling who've got some experience and can pick up if there are any problems in the centres/ wings; Powell can stand in should there be anything wrong with Green , Tomkins or Smith. I thought the Charnley/ goulding partnership was superb last season and can only get better with time. Pat’s experience will help Huges develop and Tomkins- nothing needs to be said there.
