I'm hearing a two/three year deal with a testimonial. But there is interest from Aus and NZ.

What do you think Wigan have been doing over last three seasons or so with the gradual introduction of quality players, mainly from within their own ranks.
What di I thk thay have been doing? Not what you say they have.

There has just been several players leave including both half backs so your contention we have been gradually introducing players compared to how we did it some years ago is demonstrably not true.
As for Leeds, you find that many of their present squad were thrown into the first team all at once at the start of one season about a decade ago. Nine as I recalled and most still there.
So what? Other teams have had long serving players in key positions. Long at Saints, Briers at Wire and Deacon at Bradford spring to mind.

Look what has happened since Bulls lost Deacon and Saints lost Long trophy-less and Bulls were bankrupt last season. Wire can not find an adequate replacement for Briers they will struggle in games. Finding quality half backs as both Saints and Bulls have found put is impossible.

Its easy to just judge it from the stand point we have lost such and such but so has most sides. If Briers and Long were in their 20's today they would be going to the NRL sooner rather than later. As one person on the wire board of RLfans said people will not be laughing at Wigan for getting Smith and Green in as they will have a problem in getting anything close to Briers or even Smith and Green.

Truth is mediocrity rules in the halfs in SL atm look at Leeds both are good players but neither is as good as Deacon or Long in their prime. If your mediocre union do not want you and NRL will ignore you. Thats Leeds greatest achievement in keeping 2 players who are good but not great.

Wigan have had far worse halfbacks since the seventies than what we have now in Green, Smith, Powell, Hampshire, Williams.

Remember Fairhurst, Flowers, Coyle, Walsh, Sayer, Bolton, Holden, Murdock, Foster, Cannon, Florimo, Reber, Moran, Matthew Johns etc

I'm guessing he means Keith Holden, David Bolton.
If he means those two they would waltz into any team any era..

From that era, he meant Les Bolton. Les is an old mate of mine since his Wigan days who is now sadly lost to Alzheimers.
