New Signing.

Got a hot rumour from a source inside the club, or just something you heard down the pub? Then what are you waiting for, post it on The Rumour Mill.

How can you send him to South Wales? He can't be dual regd!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Why is that the case? Do you not think RU Premiership teams take fitness serriously? He might need a break as he's been playing this season and some time to adapt, but there is no reason I see to claim he'll be unfit.

Though, yeah, the 31 year old inexperienced bit makes the move questionable. Time will tell. Older props like Peacock and Fielden are still going at it.

I'd send him out to South Wales for the bulk of the season to let him get a bit up to speed with league and also help that club out for publicity etc.
I don,t think he,ll be fit enough for our game which is a non stop game where as RU is a stop start game,to send him to south Wales for the season at his age makes him a waist of money and makes it look like we,ve signed him for publicity purposes only.
I'd just send him to South Wales without a map and hope he doesn't find a golf buggy to get back to us.

I can't believe this is a credible signing.

Exactly. We are stuck with educating a prop forward who is essentially a novice at playing League and he is way too old to learn or for his to benefit.

I would ignore WW and Medlocke. If I posted the sky was blue they would argue it was yellow just for the sake.

Most posters and coaches including Wane argue developing props is a long term process hence they do not rush young props. Yet, James Greenwood/Greg Burke/Tom Spencer/Dom Crosby who are all still developing already have a decade of RL development in the bag.

Do we need any more props? or does this suggest the likes of Prescott / Spencer / Greenwood will be released? Why did we release Fielden if we needed a prop? What does Powell offer that Fielden did not?

It may be a publicity stunt on our part and hopefully he is coming here for very little but how little if he was reportedly on 150K in Union?

Strikes me a Shem Tatupu signing and flies in the face of our youth development ideals.

Whenever I look at our squad the last thing I think we need are props. Wingers/Fullbacks for sure. Props? NO

He can be loaned to them though I would have thought?

Anyway, its not a signing I agree with our club making, but it seems like its happening so we'll have to see how it pans out.

It seems like its happening because the rumour has built from hearsay, to being backed up by people who appear to be fairly 'in the know' based on past form, to being announced by various national newspapers/news sources. As far as rumours go, this one seems pretty robust don't you think?

Personally I think it does, so if it is true, we'll have to see how the deal pans out for our club.

Expressing opinion on a rumour is still an opinion, just like it would be if you wait for the club to announce a signing, like you suggest you will do. My opinion as things stand isn't going to be changed by whether or not the rumour comes true. I suspect your opinion on whether we should sign him doesn't change if the club tomorrow say we have signed him. The only thing that might change it is how things pan out in the end, and this forum would be duller if all opinions were retrospective. We all look smart in hindsight.

My point is Mark the opinions voiced are purely speculative. You rightly say they are still opinions all the same but based on rumour.

Yes you're right, thats why all the discussion is taking place in the Rumour Mill forum. I was nothing if not speculative and I honestly think the genesis of this runour means this is a more robust rumour than some we see, otherwise I wouldn't have read so many posts about it.

I get that you may not want to make speculative comments, but I'm not sure why others can't. Though I have no axe to grind with you and I guess we'll see your opinion when/if some offical news breaks, which is fine too :)
