As for Lauaki, he was no worse than any of the forwards especially Mossop who has started hiding since the relevation that he is going to Australia and Farrell who is playing nothing like he was earlier in the season.Whelley Warrior wrote:Powell is a good prospect but like any half back is only as good as his pack as was proved last night when their pack outplayed our pack and made their half backs, especially Robinson look like world beaters. As for Green, he has not been the same player since he came back from injury and at the end of the day, Hampshire is a Stand Off and not a full back.jobo wrote:Green is the big worry for me. Looked completely out of sorts last night.DaveO wrote: I thought Hampshire showed a lot of effort running the ball out but just isn't big enough to break tackles. He was not good enough at the end of the day in the no. 1 position but it wasn't due to being a poor player. I think he was on a bit of a hiding to nothing. I am more concerned about players like Green who are supposed to be established first team players.

Mossop was very good in the first 20 minutes. Then he had to come back on after short rest because Lauaki went off, but I bet he made over 30 tackles and 15 carries.Whelley Warrior wrote:

Farrell is a bit more of a marked man now, players know with Thornley and Pat that they aren't killing you for speed wide and Hampshire isn't there as much as Sam to get the ball so you can double in on Faz to prevent him breaking the line as much and the extra man in the tackle means he won't get as fast a POTB that he was earlier on. He didn't get much good opportunities tonight given he was running in to 2 men every time Green gave him the ball, but Green rarely used him as a decoy all night, particularly in the Hudds half.

He was in Championship team of the month in this month's RLW too.cherry.pie wrote:It would be better to give Tom Spencer another go, because Lauaki isn't showing any improvements and can be a liability. He's our senior prop - he doesn't play like one.
Spencer has been ripping it up for Leigh. Every game he's one of their best players. He might not have hit the ground running in Super League but it's very difficult for a young prop to step up.
I know some might say there's a big difference between playing well for Leigh and being good enough for Super League but we've signed Sam Hopkins!

Re: Luaki!!!!!!
I don't think Hampshire played as badly as some people are making out. He ran the ball back far more than Sam does (I think he was forced to do this as Brough appeared to kick early so he didn't have help from the wings). He was in position to take the ball up on "the move" but the halves mainly chose the short ball to a forward. When Hampshire did get the ball and linked the play we looked far more effective. I think he needs to be demanding the ball more from the halves and I think this will come as he becomes more experienced and gains in confidence.
Defensively he did get caught out of position a couple of times but other players were also at fault. When the full back makes a last ditch tackle it is up to one of the other players to drop back when he is marker at the PTB. The times he sprinted up in to the densive line were to cover massive gaps which were present on our right side. This may have been less of a problem with Lockers/Smith playing.

Re: Luaki!!!!!!
You cannot blame Hampshire!!! He is a teenager, made no mistakes playing fullback which is not his favoured position in a team playing on the back foot. What do people expect him to do? STREWTH GET REAL FOLKS!!!!
People criticise Mossop but he is actually our lynchpin prop hence we were competitive until he was rake off AND even worse Micky Mac was taken off (WHY, WHY, WHY!!!). Play RL properly and Mossop will be even better, play Wane ball and any prop looks poor!!! Look how far the players spread from tackle 1!!!! the props are often 20 yards from acting half!!! What happened to working at dummy half / scooting. Wire killed Hudds doing it; I take it ARROGANT Wane knows better or is too pig headed to learn from videos!!!
Spencer, Greenwood, Burke would all have done better last night than Luaki AND even better playing Madge ball!!! WANE BALL IS KILLING US!!!
WANE BALL relies on Lockers and Sam.
Last night Spencer would have been ideal BTW
Luaki is pig lazy has no lateral movement and looks painfully unfit. The facts do not lie. He was 20 / 30 yards behind the rest of the players at times. He never drives it in (oops I lie, the one time he had to he lost the ball!!!)

Re: Luaki!!!!!!
Was very disappointed with Lauaki. I'm a big fans of his, I think he's a similar character on the pitch to Feka and gives us a boost. However last night he didn't do what we needed off him, which could cost him a trip to Wembley. His hit ups were poor. In defense he was very lazy and missed a few. I think his fitness is a worry. I don't notice a player struggling with the pace too often but he did a lot yesterday before the head clash. Imo he's way down in the props pecking order
Re: Luaki!!!!!!
Not worth a shirt there are better players
Re: Luaki!!!!!!
Is Luaki's contract up this year.
