Honest Assessment!
Honest Assessment!
Reading comments on other threads has started to tick me off so I thought I would give an honest assessment from my point of view on how our players are doing. If you feel like a goose you can follow if not just read but for my liking a few people on here need to sort their differences because its becoming no longer opinions on rugby but personal vendettas.
Anyway here goes,
1 Sam, brilliant but not played enough minutes, injured or otherwise.
2 Charnley, excellent winger could be a future FB, doesn't trust his centres defence.
3 Daz, excellent wingers centre going forward, can fall off a tackle on impact and doesn't take the line on enough as too quick to look for the pass to Josh. ( not sure that's a bad thing)
4 Thornley, good attacking centre but has brain farts in defence.
4 Gelling, has good moments but far too many bad moments especially makes to many basic mistakes.
5 Pat, been a legend but past it now and will look worse in NRL.
6 Green, confidence player and at the moment has none.
7 Smith, Turning into an excellent general, can seem too busy and needs to focus his energy better.
8 Eric, has size and aggression, needs to learn how to use it and run his weight.
9 Mickey Mac, excellent hooker, struggling to manage his game management IMO due to extra responsibilities, ie captain when no Lockers/Sam.
10 Moose, excellent prop who does all the little things and hard work time again, can lose his focus when provoked.
11 Hansen, like red wine with bad wrists, keeps improving but struggles to get up quickly after he has been tackled due to his wrist injuries.
12 Farrell, runs good lines an plays above his weight, offers himself up on Greens flat pass too much as its easily read.
13 Lockers, Same as Sam.
Taylor, Excellent going forwards and defence is getting better.
Crosby, been over exposed to SL this year but has handled it well.
Burke, same as Crosby.
Tuson, looks to be coming of age now he's moving on.
Logan, good distribution but very predictable, doesn't run at the line fullstop.
Hughes, low on confidence but could be a superstar.
Hampshire, looks excellent even out of position but doesn't get the ball on 2nd phase enough.
Tierney prospect that's not ready.
Sorry if I have missed a few but there is my 2 penny's worth for anyone who wants a read.

Re: Honest Assessment!
Thats not too bad an assessment apart from the Jack Hughes one which is a strange one
Re: Honest Assessment!
Earlier in the season his defence was as good as anyone's and he was making breaks for fun, very fast for a second rower.

Re: Honest Assessment!
Don't agree with Darrell think he does have good defence & is a better player than you give him credit for
Regarding Eric, there's more aggression in my goldfish! ! He is a complete waste of a place on the team! Only seen him put in a couple of good shots & that was against HKR the other week, would sooner have Tom Spencer, he's thick as a plank but is a better prop IMO

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

His role is to offer himself as an option to Green EVERY TIME. The problem is we aren't offering other options so that's why it's easily read.Wes wrote: 12 Farrell, runs good lines an plays above his weight, offers himself up on Greens flat pass too much as its easily read.
“Usually the fans that abuse players like Sam have never done anything of any note themselves. They’re nobodies, whose greatest claim to fame is abusing someone who has, and these so-called ‘Eddie the Experts’ pretend to their mates that they have."

Thats a symptom of Hampshire at fullback. Before someone cries about it, I'm not criticising Hampshire, but something is amiss when we go left - he gets the ball way more when we go right, don't know why he doesn't get it both ways.Shaun1967 wrote:His role is to offer himself as an option to Green EVERY TIME. Also, quite simply, teams aren't as scared of him and the lesser pace wide on our right so the can mark Faz better. Faz isn't doing anything wrong, he just isn't getting the same space.

I do not see anything special with Jack Hughes, maybe a good utility player to cover positions on the bench

on what part? He's as thick as a plank or a better propjosie andrews wrote:Don't agree with Darrell think he does have good defence & is a better player than you give him credit for

You obviously didn't watch Wigan much the end of last season/beginning of this.RobWigan wrote:I do not see anything special with Jack Hughes, maybe a good utility player to cover positions on the bench
By no fault of his own has he been played at centre countless times, when hes played 2nd Row/Loose forward from the age of 10 right up to 20. The odd time he has played centre yes.
There have probably been 2 occasions this year were he has played 2nd row and 2nd row alone. Every game due to injuries/resting players he has always made a switch to centre.
Lets not forget hes 21 years old, playing in a wigan side that have not been playing well for around 2 months now.
Given a solid run of games at 2nd row, he will definitly show his worth. He has all of the attributes of a quality 2nd row. Speed, Size, Strength, Offloads, Angled running, defence...
