Its not selling by IL, but players wanting to go for more money which they will not get in our game anymore now that RU and the NRL are far richer.
Time some got use to it or do you want the club to end up with massive debts again like it did under Robinson as a result of paying players massive salaries and like other club's are still doing on a regular basis and ending up in administration.

If the case and i do agree with you for a change that players want to go. Then why are Leeds, Wire and most if not all other SL clubs not losing anyone to the NRL and RU.Whelley Warrior wrote:Its not selling by IL, but players wanting to go for more money which they will not get in our game anymore now that RU and the NRL are far richer.

This is what i do not get Leeds have Ryan Hall, JJB, Maguire, Watkins and Hardaker yet they are not going anywhere soon. Wire have Atkins, Myler, Westwood, Ratchford all players who could make it in the NRL. Other sides too Crabtree turned NRL down. Eastmond is the only class player i know of that Saints have lost to RU and Graham to the NRL. Now why are other sides capable of this but not us. But Graham honored his contract.
Is there an issue we do not know about or is it just that other owners just say no can not be that bothered about the transfer fee as it does nothing for the team on the field apart from weakening it.
I am not advocating getting the side into debt but if we need transfer fees to survive then IL needs to get a partner in with money. Or if we do not we will start to struggle if replacing quality with mediocrity is the way forward.

Ignoring Fielden who was signed in desperation to keep us in Super League, can you think of any other 'big stars' signed by Whelan for 'big fees'?thegimble wrote:
Point i was trying to make i can not see IL doing a DW and sign a big star with a big fee. TBH i think that Fielden is the last major transfer fee we will see in SL unless there is a drastic change.

How many top British players have we lost to the NRL or RU in recent times?

But he did manage to get some decent talent from the NRL. Though to be fair i do not think that he could get a player of Barrett's calibre with the cap in the NRL.

Sam should be announced next week allegedly
Hock though that's up in the air now
Joel
4 quality players out. That is without losing TL to NZW.
What we are losing we are not covering with quality. We still have not replaced George Carmont and that is hurting us.

Lima was let go a year early as well.thegimble wrote:MossopWes wrote:How many top British players have we lost to the NRL or RU in recent times?

We also lost Finch and Hoffman and while they were at the end of their contracts which is fair enough we have not replaced them with players of the same quality.

I appreciate we can't compete with the NRL financially but given I am constantly told contracts are worthless, all IL has to do is pick the best players in the UK and buy them.
It should be absolutely no problem to cherry pick whoever we want from within SL. It doesn't seem to be working like that though.

No, IL never stumps up anything, the money is either direct from our club coffers OR loaned and repaid ASAP.Fujiman wrote:Did he not stump up for Taylor?cpwigan wrote:Whelan puts his money in / IL will not. No brainer for me.
