I hope he does but IL should have sorted it out by now.Kittwazzer wrote:I reckon he'll get a testimonial and a new contract with Wigan!thegimble wrote:I reckon he will go to Wire or NRL. If a NRL can get him for no fee then i think he will go down under but in SL he is too good to go to Salford and play for them. I know the DR is splashing the cash but they will be top 6 at the most.cpwigan wrote:Exactly what Dave says KW
H will be in a better position both at Wigan or with other clubs without the implications of an existing lengthy contract. Wigan will have to pa a damn good salary to keep him and other clubs can factor in no transfer fee as to what they offer H. H becomes the master of his own destiny.

Very true! You only have to look at the Chris Tuson situation!!superleague wrote:IL is a tight arse trying to run club like a guy on minimum wage trying to pay a mortgage
And, from what I've heard, he doesn't keep his word either!!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Come on, Tuson wants regular first choice rugby which he is not going to get at our club and will be in the company of one or two others at the end of the season.josie andrews wrote:Very true! The price you have to pay when you have a large squad of quality players and have a situation where we now have reserve level.
Perhaps you should ask Paul Cullen about his comment about picking up the scraps!
And the comment 'And from what I've heard' seems to be a norm for rumour mongers.
And boy do we have some!
Re: Tomkins saga over as he signs for the NZW
Tuson was offered a deal with us but went not just for 1st team footy but for the money. The idea a club in Wakey's state offers a more attractive package to even one of our squad players is a bit concerning especially a good player like Tuscon.Whelley Warrior wrote:Come on, Tuson wants regular first choice rugby which he is not going to get at our club and will be in the company of one or two others at the end of the season.josie andrews wrote:Very true! This is a rumour mill - if you don't like rumours don't read this particular forum. If they were posting things as hard facts maybe then you should post the above. And the comment 'And from what I've heard' seems to be a norm for rumour mongers.

Josie is pretty well connected with players and others at the club anyway so that comment made me sit up and notice. If you want to dismiss it that is up to you but complaining about rumours in this forum is nuts.

A couple of hours ago Nathan Friend the NZW hooker was on radio sport ( NZ radio station ) when a caller asked him how he felt about having his contract reduced because Sam Tomkins is costing so much money.
Friend said " all I can comment on is his skill.....Tommy took a little while to fall back into the NRL.....I guess I'm the same as many people...... I'm really looking forward to his inclusion in the team....I think he will handle it for sure....

Wow, didn't realise that. Its bad enough when one player is earning substantially more than the rest, but when everyone else has to take a pay cut to accommodate him, dressing room friction is inevitable!MT Smart wrote:A couple of hours ago Nathan Friend the NZW hooker was on radio sport ( NZ radio station ) when a caller asked him how he felt about having his contract reduced because Sam Tomkins is costing so much money.

I thought that Nathan Friend was retiring at the end of the season, I am sure I heard one of the commentator's say it was his last season
