Who will we miss/ remember more, Richards or Tomkins?

Post by ancientnloyal »

Sam is the poster boy of Northern egg-shaped ball sports and rightly so, a superb player. Richards has been a rock for us and kicked us out of trouble on many an occasion. Both have their names in our record books and both have Man of Steel honours but in 20 years time who will we be talking about... Pat Richards or Sam Tomkins?

I've been saying it over the past 4 or 5 seasons that Richards is the most important player in the Wigan side.

That said, Tomkins will also be a huge miss.

Two fantastic players, and hopefully they'll have a Grand Final winners medal/ring/bracelet to take down under with them when they go.
Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

Richards

Sam for me as we have won everything with him in our team, in recent history without him we haven't.

I have not read the replies so far but my guess is most will say Richards. He is after all a legend but I don't think it is so obvious.

Sam id not only the poster boy as you say but he has that X factor. Players like him turn up rarely and such players just stick in the memory.

Richard's will get a mention when the goal kicking stats are talked about as does Botica but I have a feeling Tomkins will be one of those names that crops up more readily because as I said players like him stick in the memory.

No chance of being a Wigan legend though given his short career here.
