Are Warrington favourites?
Re: Are Warrington favourites?
I like not being favourites. It seemed to motivate the players in the previous round and Wire can get complacent due to over confidence.
I do think if we win it will be close but if Wire win they may do so by a bigger margin.

No you do not.Wigan Watcher wrote:TrueBlueWarrior wrote:Your negativity is becoming quite irritating!!Wigan Watcher wrote:Got to go for Warrington considering we were so poor against a tired and injury hit Leeds. Our forwards let us down in that game along with no skill shown by our backs equals a Warrington win but it could go close as its a final. We will go off the boil 60 mins in to the game and that's were it will be won in my humble opinion.

Re: Are Warrington favourites?
Who cares whether we or the Wire are favourites? It doesn't matter a jot on the day.
History shows that in the last 3 years we've only beaten them twice. But this season's games are interesting. The draw at home flattered Wire; we were unlucky not to win. The scoreline at the HJ suggested an easy win, but actually they got two tries that were very fortuitous (it means lucky!). A bounce of the ball that wasn't cleared gave them a scoreline that didn't really reflect the game. So I think the gap between the teams is paper thin. The winner will be the team that keeps its composure and doesn't lose its discipline.
This really has all the makings of a great game. While we are wary of Warrington, make no mistake they will be fearing Wigan every bit as much.
Bring it on - I can't wait

Re: Are Warrington favourites?
I am thinking of staying at home tomorrow as there seems little point in going to a game that is a forgone conclusion, well it is if you listen to the so called experts. Millward's Sporting Life column seems to sum up the thoughts of our leading rugby league press, commentators and coaches. Then again it could be a little thing called wishful thinking. Is there anyone out there, well outside of Wigan, that thinks we have got a snowball in hells chance of winning?
P.s. if we win it will taste all the sweeter.

I agree with all this and would state3 facts:God wrote:Regardless of what has happened in the previous games this season, we were comfortable against Huddersfield and Leeds and we really didnt get out of second gear.
Warrington couldnt have played any better against Leeds and Huddersfield and gave 100% and were well out on there feet with 20 mins to go against Huddersfield.
Warrington fans, pundits, and bookies are confident of a Warrington win... Wire fans, although nervous about the day, are embarrassingly confident that they will blow us off the park in the first 30 and hold out for a win and are disgussing how they will go about this.
The old "Its our year" tag being mentioned on more than one occasion. Looking at interviews Wigan seem very relaxed about the prospect unlike Wire, Monaghan looked like he was going to cry at one point.
We will see, im hoping the weather is going to be rubbish...Wire make alot of mistakes in games and if its wet i can see it being like Wembly all over again.
1. In getting to tomorrow, we have both played the same 2 teams. We conceded 3 tries, Wire conceded 8.
2. Wire have the same team out as last year which wasn't good enough then. An older Morley, Carvell, Briers et al will not improve them.
3. Lex on RedVee predicts Wigan by 10. He is rarely wrong and predicted Wigan by 16 in the CCF!

We'll be up for this.
Morley was on 5Live earlier. We declined to put anyone forward for interview as the squad are in media lockdown prior to final.
Shaun Edwards was interviewed for the Wigan perspective.
