Re: A fantastic achievement!!!
In the scheme of things, had Wire won, we'd have all said it's a good thing for the great sport of Rugby League. But being from Wigan I didn't want it to turn out that way.
At 16-2 down I was just getting my head round that philosophical view and consoling myself with "the bigger picture".
But actually we were playing better than them for the first 20 minutes, making more metres and containing their attacks. For 6 minutes something clicked and we gave away 16 points. I've no argument with the referee's decisions - we gave away penalties and they capitalised.
But then we slowly regained control and from then on I found myself becoming hoarse, and even a bit dizzy when Josh collected Daz's chip kick and scored under the sticks.
What a game! One of our finest.
Last year we lost Leululai, Carmont and Finch among others. We wondered if we'd cope without them. Well, the answer is the most emphatic YES. What a great day. Well done to everyone at the club.
Anything happening between now and the start of the next season?

Absolutely brilliant. That was a complete performance.
I thought our pack were magnificent in the second half. They came out and just terrorised Warrington into getting field position.

Best game I've seen in a long time.
So much for Wire only having to turn up according to all the "Pundits".
Some one forgot to tell the Wigan lads.
Over the moon for Shaun Wayne and the team - especially Lockers who gave Pat a 'walk in'. The delight on their faces was a joy to watch!

Haha. Terry Wogan has just read out a message from Edna Cloud, the famous Wigan Warrior supporting TOG!

Re: A fantastic achievement!!!
If somebody won it from 4th (apart from Wigan) we'd be in uproar like last year when Leeds won it from the Championship division. BUT, I think Wigan have deserved to win this year after setting records for more than half the season (hull kr, sam t, josh...) then the focus was on the CC.
After that it was about recovering, regrouping and getting ready for the play offs which we did in the end. Although I didn't agree with this tactic it obviously worked.

Re: A fantastic achievement!!!
Wigan did what they needed to do to win it - as all other teams had the opportunity to do.
Playing the system to finish in a pay-off place is sensible, and well coached! It's a much criticised system and quite unique but all teams are ruled by the same league structure and system.
I am really pleased for Wane, and the Wigan squad, that it has worked out so well!
I have watched a great Challenge Cup final - where Wigan played as they needed to on the day - outplaying a team playing to the wet weather conditions, an encouraging young / inexperienced team almost beat Hull and show their potential for the future, a rebuilding of the team in the playoffs and a superb comeback completely outplaying an older tiring Warrington team in the Grand Final.
And - after all the ridiculous speculation I've seen a very committed Sam Tomkins give his all in his last match in the cherry and white - he played his heart out and showed what being a part of Wigan meant to him (as did Richards and Mossop).
I'm a very happy Wigan fan!
