A few weeks ago we decided it would be great to go to Jamie’s Italian Manchester to celebrate the wife’s birthday so we booked a private room for eight including 5 & 7 year old grandkids for 5:30PM.
It was a terrific evening great ambiance, waitress and service the food superb and it didn’t break the bank.
Great you might think! wrong, we left Manchester with a feeling of right that’s it Rip of City can go and screw itself. We parked on a meter in Brown Street just off Upper King Street thinking, Sunday we should be OK for parking on the street. Wrong again parking is now 8AM – 8PM 7 days a week. Max 2 hours return prohibited. Charges £3 an hour, cost us £9.00 per car £18 for parking on Sunday evening as we had to nip out after two hours and move them. What a great rip off, well done Manchester City Council, what a great way of attracting us from the Subs into the City.
Well I’m sorry Manchester but you can go and stick your overpriced unwelcoming rip off City where the sun doesn’t shine. From now on it’s Liverpool for us, friendlier not up itself, great restaurants cheap parking and a first class orchestra. Oh and Jamie’s Liverpool so we can still enjoy a good night out at Jamie’s. Rant over “Feck off Manchester”
Rip off Manchester, beware !

Parking in most city centres is chargeable on sundays ..... especially Liverpool :conf:
To be honest a quick read of the meter would have save a lot of heartache. Get the train next time id say, its well cheap and you can all enjoy the delights of Jamie's wine list

we don't stop playing because we grow old ....... we grow old because we stop playing

If you go to Liverpool for Jamies Italian you deserve hitting over the head with a mallet. Not far away close to China Town is Il Forno, FAR FAR better!
Parking In Any City Centre is expensive IMO. If you use Liverpool 1s car park you get stung.

The politicians / bankers screw up and guess who is pating? YOU, I, WE the ordinary folk.
The incredibly rich are not, the politicians getting an 11% pay rise are not and the bankers are not.
Better we all fall for the less relevant almost a red herring of focusing on benefits and a tiny group of benefit scammers.

Yes I'm aware of the alternatives to and from Manchester but 8AM to 8PM including Sunday parking restrictions in the City was a surprise and as we only arrived in town 10 minutes prior to our booking early Sunday evening 8 in total it didn't leave us much time to seek alternatives.
The City was pretty dead by 5:30 any way and may be, just may be had there been on street parking free from say 6PM it may well have been busier, I suspect the local city restaurants would back me to the hilt, I know Jamie's do.
Manchester along with many cities and large towns are slowly strangling the centres with with their intransigence, even the great Mr Pickles is aware of that.
Oh and by the way Liverpool I believe is suspending bus lanes to encourage more people into the City how novel. I used po be proud to be a Manc even supported MU at one time and I used to look down on the SCOUSE, not any more, think it's living in Wigan what done it, excuse the grammar
