Re: Hansen
So it looks like H is leaving, which is bad news. But we have got adequate replacements already IMO. Does anyone know if Wigan will be signing any more players? Not particularly as a replacement for H, but in other positions?
Re: Hansen
I think we will miss H is he leaves, off field for his impact amongst the whole squad and on field for the unglamorous donkey work he does and his tackle on Moon v Leeds was an amazing effort.

Re: Hansen
Josie, I was only asking because there are certain things at the club which I am not happy about.

No where near as bad as Whelan, but perhaps you would like to go back to the bad old days of his ownership?slimshady wrote:Its no secret and Ive said it for years IL is a cheapskate who always will beplatt-warrior wrote:Well, why mention it in the first place then?cpwigan wrote:You cannot tell others what happens because then others lose their trust in you WW.
It really does annoy me this "behind closed doors" statements.
Re: Hansen
If Salford can buy H out of his last year of his Wigan contract when he is on for a testimonial then that says to me IL has not got the cash or the inclination to knock back such approaches by people like Koukash never mind the NRL.
To me this is going to define IL's ownership of the club.
I have argued against letting people like Sam out of contracts but can see the huge figures on offer.
Having banked that amount of money for Sam, Hock and Mossop and given H isn't an NRL target just what is going on here?
He is 28, a top player in SL, been here for 10 years and at 28 is actually reaching his peak.
It seems we are not only vulnerable to the NRL bt to anyone with a deep pocket.
If H ends up at Salford for next season, we need to get shut of IL asap as he isn't wealthy enough or not willing enough to resist approaches for our best players.

For me I think winning the GF twice and the cup twice will be defining his ownership.DaveO wrote:If Salford can buy H out of his last year of his Wigan contract when he is on for a testimonial then that says to me IL has not got the cash or the inclination to knock back such approaches by people like Koukash never mind the NRL.

Me too, but if you spend your enire life looking for negatives, you will always find them. If good asset management keeps the club profitable AND wins trophies, I'll be happy every season.Mike wrote:For me I think winning the GF twice and the cup twice will be defining his ownership.DaveO wrote:If Salford can buy H out of his last year of his Wigan contract when he is on for a testimonial then that says to me IL has not got the cash or the inclination to knock back such approaches by people like Koukash never mind the NRL.

That said, Hansen has been allocated his 11 shirt for next season and as far as I know, he is not in any dispute with Wane nor is there a court case looming!
Re: Hansen
I like Hansen, massively under rated IMO BUT he's certainly replaceable and in Bateman I believe we have someone with more potential and ability than Hansen. Ideally Hansen will be here for one more season and then Bateman can have his spot.
It also annoys me that we have sold a lot of players (home grown ones at that) over recent years, but you can't argue that over this same period we have won a couple of GF's and CC's. Yes, IMO I think IL has been fortunate that its coincided with a very talented group of academy players but this won't last forever, we will at some point go through a barren spell of producing top class players and its at this point that the wheels could fall off if we continue to sell our best assets.

Yes we are at the forefront of talent development but we won't bring through top end talent every season. We will always produce players good enough for super league but there will come a point when we have a barren spell IMO of producing a sam Tomkins, josh charnley, SOL.TWO EYED WARRIOR wrote:Big statement considering the investment that has been made by the club in developing and unearthing talent from all over the place.AdamMac wrote:I like Hansen, massively under rated IMO BUT he's certainly replaceable and in Bateman I believe we have someone with more potential and ability than Hansen. Granted we wont always get it right and we will need to purchase players from AUS/NZ or SL to bolster but the club is at the forefront of talent development

Re: Hansen
Since IL took over Wigan have gone from having a turnover of £3.5 million to £6.2 million, from making a loss of £1.7 million to making a profit for the last three consecutive years. From not winning a trophy for eight years to winning six in the last four years. From having a pay structure whereby three players took up over a third of the salary cap to a much better balanced wage structure. I don't want to see Hansen go, he's one of the most underrated players in SuperLeague but to say him going defines Lenagans ownership of the club is way off the mark. I think what I've just posted defines ILs ownership of the club far more correctly.
