Imo I think there may be a twist to Hansen.Don't think it's as cut and dry him going to Salford as led to believe.Bigger salary/testimonial compensation/and a fee.BUT he still does not want to go.

He doesn't want to go, but the club need to pay him his worth IMO which at 28 he is in his prime

Your right. But they are not going to up his wage in last year of present contract.Imo the question is does he stick it out and see where the season takes him.(having a great season would only enhance his portfolio).or go now for security.

We have room under the salary cap so I can't see why we should not renegotiate unless of course the club feels that we have better players in our ranks or we are lining up a better replacement.

The 'writing was on the wall' to H and to any player / agent worth his salt the moment Wigan never offered him an extended contract and merely enforced their 1 season option.

Interestingly IL is acting exactly as ML / Whelan did as players reached their latter years. Loyalty is not rewarded at Wigan RLFC / sport and people are treated like pieces of meat!

If somebody comes along offering H a lengthy contract, great money and the club a few £s then it is sadly a no brainer from H POV given he is probably entering the 1 more quality contract left in his career stage.

Whether it is right for Wigan RLFC is a huge ?

I keep seeing H bringing down Joel Moon in the POs and think huge own goal. :conf:

It was always the way during the glory years e.g. Hanley still had plenty left in the tank when we sold him to Leeds. From a business point of view it's better to take the money while H still has a high value rather than give him another 3 yr contract then try to sell him when he is on the wane.
