probably so such is life the saying "absolute power corrupts absolutley" comes to mind and im guessing the closer you get to the main parties the more you corrupt you would need to be to compete.

Like i say, im by no means saying the government are whiter than white but i do believe there are some hard working MP's out there and to tarnish them all with the same brush is probably a little unfair.

I made the comment because many people do not know who they are. Maybe, there are no MP's on this panel, but are any ex. MP's or people who have connections with the political parties or make donations to them.

Perhaps, you can enlighten us of its membership.

The whole point of having an independent body set the pay is to avoid accusation of impropriety. One of them is an ex MP, but I would see that as being necessary in order to actually know what the job entails. I don't accept that anyone would want their salary decided by someone who has no detailed experience of the job.

For those who believe that despite the 'independent' tag, the body is in some way worked from behind by the government. You should be aware that this body is created under statute, and it's decisions if suspect would be open to challenge in the courts. The presence on the board of a former high court judge would make that a fairly remote possibility.
