Warriors Name Squad for Season Opener

Post by si_bax »

New signings Matty Bowen, Dan Sarginson, Tony Clubb, Eddy Pettybourne and John Bateman are named in the 19 and could all make their Super League debuts in the famous cherry and white. Hooker Michael McIlorum is also named after recovering from injury but as expected Josh Charnley misses out following his recent stomach/hernia operation. As revealed earlier in the week, Josh could figure next midweek for the warm up game against the New Zealand Warriors in Hamilton to prove his fitness for the forthcoming World Club Challenge game against the Sydney Roosters on January 22nd.

Wigan 19 Man Squad (in alphabetical order)

25 John Bateman, 1 Matty Bowen, 32 Joe Burgess, 24 Tony Clubb, 17 Dom Crosby, 12 Liam Farrell, 10 Ben Flower, 5 Anthony Gelling, 3 Darrell Goulding, 6 Blake Green, 14 Jack Hughes, 9 Michael McIlorum, 13 Sean O'Loughlin, 22 Eddy Pettybourne, 19 Sam Powell, 23 Dan Sarginson, 7 Matty Smith, 8 Scott Taylor, 4 Iain Thornley.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Really theres only one bench spot left, 16 players definently in the 17, so that leaves the one bench spot between Gelling,Hughes and Crosby
