RIP Tony Benn

Post by Mrs Lifter »

Like or loath he was that rarest of things a honest politician a man who had the courage of his convictions.

Whats the old saying "I my not agree with what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it" or something like that.
He was the last of the great orators a man whos voice and belief compelled an audience to listen even if that provoked disagreement.

RIP :(
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Tony Benn was an incredible politician, and a great man.

The fact the s*n called him "the most dangerous man in Britain" means he was doing something right!

RIP Tony

A true Socialist and a Man of Principle which is more than can be said for many at the top of the Labour Party at both national and local level these days.

Even give up being a Viscount to be a man of the people and will always be remembered by true Socialists.

To lose both Tony Benn and Bob Crow in the same week is a sad loss for those of us on the Left.

Didn't always agree with him but by God he had, and stuck to, his principles.
Politics and Parliament are poorer without him.
His kind are becoming fewer and fewer - unfortunately.
