Yes it would. Polite applause and a bit of cheering for each try would be the best you'd get. An even more foregone conclusion with no away fans does not make for a good atmosphere.
Also, most people now accept that league games are pointless, we'll be in the 8 wihtout trying, so why should we really care.
And then the playoffs come around with a first round that is also meaninglessly easy with very few fans and the tone is set. Lack of intensity for players and fans alike throughout the year with two semi's and two finals the only meaningfull games plus St Helens.
Its not a good situation, and the 8/8/8 split ain't going to help a club like Wigan.

Do you think there was a flat atmosphere at the Cas Saints game this evening? If there wasn't that kind of dispels "the league doesn't matter" argument.
Now granted two of the leagues currently better teams were having at it but I think even against poor opposition you will get more noise if Wigan are playing well.
I think the fans are genuinely fed up of going 10 or 12 points behind at home. Especially when the team scoring the points are so obviously bad.
We looked like a group of on loan players just chucked together for most of the game last night , when we did make a break in the second half because probably the bloke taking the ball in does not expect to get through the line no one else expects him to either so the support is none existent . It really is becoming hard to watch . The fans have nothing to cheer when we are 10-0 down to London inside the first 10 minutes . The whole playoff system has not helped now teams have won it from outside the top 2 but from Wigan's performance point of view and value for money for the supporters it's shocking at best .
The whole youth development system is great but we need some stability and experience within the squad .

I think that game is an exception for 2 reasons
1) the ground is an old school smaller venue which to me produces a better standard atmosphere
2) cas weren't expecting to win that and I think the euphoria of smashing sts in the first half sent the crowd into a frenzy then the comeback produced a game that mattered until the last minute
Every time I've been to the dw recently the atmosphere has been simply awful even on the days there's a good crowd in.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure
Entertainment Mike. I think people accept final league position is not the be all and end all but they still want to be entertained by good exciting RL and of course it is obligatory to beat Saints.
Just a few observations.
I was sat next to a group of lads in the South Stand. They were supporting London and they were fine. They were a group of lads enjoying themselves. At no point did I see them causing trouble.
London had a very young team. Their number 6 only looked 11 but he had a great game. They are not fortunate enough to have the endless supply of talent that we have coming through their academy. They certainly don't have the crowds that can generate enough money to pay for top end players.
Scott Moore did his best to rally them towards the end. However, how dirty is he? I thought he was going to break Lockers arm or rip it out of its socket. No wonder he can't settle set a club!
We had a lot of changes to our already changed squad and think we struggled with adapting to the playing styles of the newer players. This caused issues with the cohesion of the team. (I know they should be used to each other as they train together but think game day is different to training)
We still should take positives from this game. George Williams, Sam Powell and Joe Burgess did well. A win is a win.
We are Wigan did a good job in starting some of the singing. Hopefully it will get better and more fans will begin to join in again.
Went into the game with the attitude that we only had to turn up and get a cricket score.
But London with a virtual new squad are slowly improving and played well but experience, fitness and better tackling showed in the end.
Plus the fact that we were a bit weak in the prop position with only Taylor, James and Dudson, the latter taken off early in the game which is hardly surprising the way he was playing and has been playing all season. In one scrum, our front row consisted of three back row forwards in Pettybourne, Clubb and Bateman.
Then of course, there was the fact that our next game is against a certain club called St Helens who are undefeated and might explain the team selection last night.
Didn't see game, watched Saints game. Cas played some of the best rugby I've seen in the first half hour but unfortunatly couldn't sustain it. Saints were outplayed in this period but came back strong in second half enough for me to worry about our chances when we play them :eh:

Every home game this season has seen us play poorly. I don't think it is a coincidence the crowd are flat when the team are starting games by going a couple of tries behind.
So far starting to play after half time has been good enough to win the games but the RL being served is poor for a least half a game.

Couldn't agree more, and I'm really not 'Green hating' here just for the sake of finding someone to blame for a poor team performance, but I've said for a while now, the bloke simply is not good for WW. He adds nothing particularly special to the team and is not capable of finding anything special. Some may refer to the grand final when yes, he had a good game and was one of the better players, but on the whole Green is not good enough and never will be. I'm a big fan of Smith and feel Rocky would complement him more.
