Danny Tickle.

Both good enough to improve the team and improve the kicking IMO. We have a substantial transfer fund (surely!) so we could have got them if we'd wanted them.
We let Tickle go. If he wasn't good enough for us then, I doubt he is now.
So what is Jordan James doing in the 1st 17 then?

Surely with Tickle the point is he may not have been good enough for us then but is now because our squad is nothing like as good as it was when he left?

If you like his standing has risen because the quality of SL (and our squad along with it) has fallen.
I would have thought that it was obvious!

Very much. His kicking today was as good as Pat at his best
Better in one respect. At 14-32, it would never have occurred to Pat to go for a drop goal. Smith took the p**s with that one. He had a point to prove to his old club and he did it with style and aplomb!

Thats a tough call to make CP.
I think paddy would have split the posts on the penalty smith missed.
It was also mentioned a week or so ago that Richards has had only missed 4 kicks for Wests all season so far and that 3 of the misses had hit the uprights.
I would take paddy kicking over matty smith every day of the week.
This isnt a knocking of Smith as he has massively improved.
Long may it last.

It is a big call but Pat today is a far better kicker than he was at a similar stage to Matty. IMO; Matty kicked as well as Pat did for us. IIRC, Pat used to miss what were considered relatively easy ones a few to one side of the posts. At the time he was better kicking from out wide than just off centre. The one thing we have no replaced are his kick offs / drop outs.

Pat was excellent for us but Pat stays, no Budgie and I think Matty will get better and better re; kicking

Some should remember the same doubt about Pat as a goal keeper were being expressed at the time he took on the job with us as when he came, there was no knowledge of him being a goal kicker at West Tigers.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

It's two games in a row for Smith that he has kicked goals really well. I think it's almost time to put the early season woes being us and get on with life

Never in a month of Sundays!

And neither a bandwagon jumper like we now have in the Wigan area where the round ball game is concerned.
