Utd have won it more than anybody else and in the past and recently a core of home grown youth players have been at the heart of success.
Together with a abundance of better quality foreign players than what they have had in recent years under the present ownership and the class of ninety two, with the exception of Giggs all gone.
Today, only two or three quality home grown players are in the squad.
Yes, United have won more trophies than any other club but that was when their name alone could attract the best young players in this country and many of the better players from abroad.
Why do you think Sir Alex got out?
Let me see 25 years, his age and to finish on a high :eh:
He knew that his side was not good enough and the infighting at Man City last season cost them the title. They self destructed when Tevez and Mancini went to war on each other.
He knew Mourinhio was going to Chelsea before Christmas and that the United side was not going to win the champions league for a while given the squad spine was either getting old or not up to it.
He knew it was his time to go as there was nothing else he could do without gutting the squad and changing which he had not got the time for. He did have some very good youngsters come through the ranks, but nothing since the mid 90's was of real quality. The much praised youth system has seen the wheels come off that bus faster then the Jose double decker did last night. The team will need serious changing and no champions league will force the club to spend idiotic money on a player. Mata technically not good enough for Chelsea was sold for 37 million and Felaini 27 million which is stupid money.
Major problem for Moyes was the squad was not good enough and Ferguson won the league with a side just as bad as Liverpool's in the 1990 season. After that Liverpool went backwards quickly due to players been too old or not good enough which is the case now at Old Trafford.
But Sir Alex Ferguson's biggest failure was to be involved in selecting the chosen one. If Ryan Giggs was seen as so good a prospective manager then Mike Phelan should have been given the job and to bring Giggs up to Assistant with him in 2-3 years been given the job. Something Liverpool did with Joe Fagan to allow time for the King to be ready to take over 2 years later.
Moyes biggest failure was to get rid of Mike Phelan. Bad move to bring in Everton's backroom staff when he needed to get upto United's level. Instead he took them to Everton's level.
But tbh and fair to Ferguson how many world class players have Liverpool, City, Chelsea etc bought through in the last 15 years not many.
