According to Millward in his column on Sporting Life, Brown is due to resign with the club and an announcement may be made before todays game. I am not to sure how I feel about a 20/20 place being taken up by him, he wont have signed for under 20k I dont think, and to me he doesnt look like hes ever going to be that good, and is a waste of a place in the squad.
Millwards comments below.
"We expect before the game to announce the re-signing of another key player too in Kevin Brown and hope he will put pen to paper soon. "
Kev Brown
Re: Kev Brown
Millward has always spoken highly of Brown, I can remember him being excited on SKY when he first came onto the scene. I think Brown has potential and if Millward can make a decent player out of Ade Gardner then he can bring the best out of Kevin Brown. Let's hope so anyway, the last thing we want to happen is for him to play his RL elsewhere and make us wish we'd kept him.
Re: Kev Brown
I have to agree with Millward about Kev Brown, i know it seems that wigan fans either love him or hate him but i can see him developing over the next few years into an amazing player who wants to play for Wigan. He must have something about him as Brian Noble picked him for the GB squad!
Re: Kev Brown
Why do you say that? On what evidence has he shown he will develop into a great player?joely14 posted:

He seems to have got more erratic this season and that is being kind.
Since when has he ever been in the the GB squad? He must have something about him as Brian Noble picked him for the GB squad!

We'd never get rid of anyone if any player labelled as postentially good but performing badly was kept on if we thought like that.robjoenz posted:

Brown is not worth a 20/20 slot on his performances this season.
Given how many players we have sigend if he is on over £20K then someone else will have to leave and can anyone honestly say a different player deserves to be cut so he can have their spot in the top 20 earners?

Re: Kev Brown
He has just extended his contract untill the end of 2007, See the offical web site.

The important question then, is he or isn't he in the top twenty earners at the club?Dawber posted:

I don't suppose we will find out but I am sure there will be rumours flying about both ways.
I shall watch how he goes tonight with interest.

Re: Kev Brown
i personally dont like brown at all i dont rate him and i think the money could of been spent better.
Re: Kev Brown
I see your point Dave but I consider this season to be an exceptional case. Judging from this seasons performances you'd only really offer a new contract to a small handful of our squad.DaveO posted:

You would expect at Brown's age for him to have improved over the past few years which he doesn't appear to have done. When he first came on the scene he looked very promising but in the last few seasons we've recruited very poorly and had absolutely no strength in depth, we've relied far to much on youth.
The ideal situation to develop a player is how Leeds have brought in Danny McGuire. He played bit parts from the bench with a specific role to play. Brown has been forced to play where he is needed but not necessarily where he plays best. He's played centre, stand-off and more recently fullback. He's had no opportunity to develop in one specialist position so it doesn't really suprise me that we've seen no major improvement. I believe this also to be the case with Aspinwall and Wild too.
With regard to his form this season, he's been very inconsistent, throwing some barmy passes and then at times when he makes a little side-step and turn of pace to find a gap he keeps hold when he should really pass the ball. I personally think this is down to confidence, not just of him but the whole team, there's too much panic rugby going on. It's the story of our season, get into a good position and panic!
I think he'll come good once he has a settled side around him and he's not thrown all over the place to fill in for injured players. Millward seems to have faith in him too so fingers crossed we'll see what I expect we'll see.

Re: Kev Brown
Millward knows what he's doing, i personally think it's good news! Kev is true wigan player. Yes he has made some errors but most of our team have this season with the exception of Dallas and Tickle. I hope he proves all you anti-Kev's out there wrong.
